Director, Supply Chain Engineering
Position Summary
The Director of Supply Chain Engineering is the in-region leader for supply chain engineering, responsible for building and leading the local test, process, and quality engineering functions. This role ensures products are industrialized, qualified, and brought to market with reliable quality, capacity, and supply continuity.
The Engineering Director will partner closely with North America–based engineering, operations, and supply chain leaders to maintain aligned global processes, effective communication, and seamless execution across regions. As a primary technical and operational interface with suppliers in Asia, this leader will drive suppliers’ readiness, resolve issues, and develop the organizational capability required to meet evolving business needs. This individual will partner closely with other in-region leadership responsible for the Asia sustaining operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Taiwan Supply Chain Engineering organization across test, process, and quality engineering.
- Establish priorities, allocate resources, and build capability to support product launches, sustain operations, supplier performance, and strategic business objectives.
- Serve as the senior in-country supply chain engineering leader and a key liaison with global counterparts, particularly North America–based teams.
- Ensure clear, timely communication of risks, milestones, decisions, and recovery plans across global stakeholders.
- Lead engineering engagement with suppliers, including technical reviews, process readiness, quality performance, capacity planning, and issue resolution.
- Drive product introduction and commercialization activities from design transfer through ramp and sustained production.
- Establish and improve scalable engineering processes, metrics, and operating mechanisms that strengthen quality, yield, throughput, cost, and supply continuity.
- Lead structured root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for product, process, test, and supplier-quality issues.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders in product engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, sourcing, and program management to resolve constraints and meet commitments.
- Recruit, develop, retain, and motivate a high-performing engineering team; provide clear direction, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Anticipate business demand and align organization design, staffing, and technical expertise to near- and long-term needs.
- Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, operational rigor, continuous improvement, and respectful collaboration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, manufacturing, process, test, quality, or operations engineering, including significant experience with external manufacturing partners and suppliers.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience, including hiring, developing, and allocating technical teams.
- Demonstrated success leading engineering organizations through new product introduction, production ramp, quality improvement, and complex supplier challenges.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing process development, test engineering, quality systems, supplier quality, and continuous-improvement methods.
- Proven ability to influence and align cross-functional, geographically distributed stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority.
- Experience working closely with North American and Asia-based teams in a global operating environment.
- Strong business judgment, communication skills, and ability to translate technical risks into clear decisions and action plans.
- Professional fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese
