Job Description

Job Objective

The Product Specialist is responsible for product development and innovation, as well as managing existing products across their life cycle in all categories (Swine, Poultry, Gamefowl, Rabbit, Pet, or Aqua). This includes conducting market research, leading product and program development (e.g., Diamond Program), and ensuring effective management to support revenue growth and brand building.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Product Development and Innovation

1. Develops tools and creates methodologies for product research.
2. Ensures all product development initiatives are subjected to the product development process covering idea generation, idea screening, product concept, business analysis, marketing plan and commercialization.
3. Conducts market research and presents market research results on a product in an assigned category.
4. Leads and collaborates with QA, technical, production and sales on product prototypes and development.
5. Understand and conduct benchmarking on competitive pricing. 
6. Develops proposals on promotional initiatives for the products developed.
7. Assists in the placement of products developed.

Product Management

1. Assesses existing products using the product life cycle tool and provides immediate product line analysis and recommends a plan of action.
2. Implements and collaborates approved plans of action and calibrates whenever necessary.
3. Monitors results and provides reports based on the agreed plan of action.
4. Monitors and reports sales and financial results of products handled. 

Program Development and Management

1. Develops short-term marketing & promotional program specific to a product in an assigned category.
2. Collaborates with sales and monitors program implementation.
3. Develops metrics, conducts program reviews to assess effectiveness and push of marketing and promotional programs.
4. Recommends program enhancements to ensure program competitiveness.
5. Provides support by providing inputs to the Diamond program educational materials and other defined sales and marketing programs requiring product information and technical contents.

Qualifications

Education:

• Agribusiness
• Agriculture (animal science);
• Marketing

Experience:

• At least 2 years work experience in Research, Marketing or Product Management, preferably in an agricultural industry.

License/s: 

• Licensed Agriculturist is an advantage
