Job Title: Principal, Valuation and Approved Actuary

Global Atlantic, is looking for a Principal, Valuation and Approved Actuary to join the Bermuda Actuarial team. This role will be based in our Hamilton, Bermuda office and will lead the Economic Balance Sheet (EBS) valuation process and BSCR determination. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the EBS Valuation team in producing Best Estimate Liabilities (BEL) and support Bermuda Solvency Capital requirement (BSCR) determination for all offshore entities.
  • Serve as Approved Actuary and Head of EBS Valuation team
  • Lead BEL valuation automation and process improvement.
  • Analyze and explain movements in BEL to management.
  • Support Risk and other teams in calculating the BSCR and other capital metrics under internal and external stress scenarios.
  • Provide thought leadership to the Bermuda actuarial team and insights for management action related to EBS framework.
  • Support audit, regulatory requests, and other ad-hoc requests pertaining to BEL/BSCR.
  • Support onboarding of new deals assumed by the Bermuda-based entities.
  • Collaborate with the Bermuda modeling team and Bermuda Embedded Value valuation team.
  • Liaison of Bermuda Actuarial valuation team and onshore Actuarial valuation team.
  • Manage the Bermuda EBS Valuation team and mentor other actuaries.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • 12+ years’ experience in the (re)insurance industry.
  • FSA (or equivalent).
  • Life and Annuity experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Bermuda EBS framework.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and US Stat relating to life and/or annuities preferred, but not required.
  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • Strong Excel knowledge (Power Query is a plus).
  • Strong leadership skills.
