The Principal Security Architect serves as the technical authority for cybersecurity architecture across a critical government program. This position is responsible for designing, documenting, integrating, and maintaining the security architecture supporting network infrastructure, SD-WAN services, cloud platforms, management systems, operational support systems, and enterprise services.

 

The Principal Security Architect works closely with the program’s technical and operations leadership as well as customer stakeholders to ensure security requirements are incorporated into all phases of design, implementation, testing, transition, and operations.

 Job Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Serve as the primary business strategy advisor to executive leadership for program activities.
  • Develop executive-level reporting packages, dashboards, scorecards, and strategic assessments that provide visibility into program performance, risks, financial status, staffing, and critical milestones.
  • Lead preparation of governance reviews, leadership briefings, management reports, and executive presentations.
  • Analyze program performance trends and provide actionable recommendations to improve operational effectiveness and business outcomes.
  • Coordinate across program management, finance, contracts, engineering, operations, security, testing, and transition organizations to ensure leadership has a comprehensive view of program status.
  • Support executive oversight of contract performance, schedule attainment, resource utilization, and budget execution.
  • Monitor strategic risks, issues, dependencies, and emerging business impacts requiring leadership attention.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), program health metrics, and executive scorecards.
  • Support leadership decision-making through business case development, scenario analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning activities.
  • Track organizational priorities and ensure alignment between program activities and enterprise objectives.
  • Facilitate preparation for executive governance boards, operational reviews, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Support workforce planning, organizational readiness, recruiting strategies, and resource forecasting activities.
  • Coordinate development of executive communications, position papers, and leadership talking points.
  • Identify opportunities to improve program governance, reporting effectiveness, operational efficiency, and business performance.
  • Ensure leadership has timely visibility into cost, schedule, staffing, contractual, and operational performance drivers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of cybersecurity and enterprise architecture experience.
  • Experience designing secure large-scale enterprise networks, cloud environments, and telecommunications infrastructures.
  • Experience supporting federal cybersecurity programs and security authorization activities.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust principles, identity management, network security, encryption technologies, and security monitoring platforms.
  • Strong understanding of NIST cybersecurity frameworks and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • FAA, DHS, DoD, or other federal civilian agency experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise telecommunications and managed network service programs.
  • Knowledge of SD-WAN security architectures and enterprise network modernization initiatives.
  • Experience developing SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, and ATO documentation.
  • Familiarity with SIEM, vulnerability management, GRC, and continuous monitoring platforms. Security compliance and authorization activities are central components of the FENS security architecture approach.
  • CISSP, CCSP, SABSA, AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer, or equivalent certifications.

 

 Our Principal Security Architect's earn between $130,700 - $290,600. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
