Team Manager – Planned Maintenance


We are looking for an experienced Team Manager with strong leadership skills to lead a team of approximately six Proactive Operations Planners.

You will be responsible for providing effective leadership, direction and support to the planning team, ensuring that all activities are delivered efficiently, safely and to a high standard. You will play a key role in ensuring that the team’s work positively reflects both Lanes Group and our client, Thames Water.

The successful candidate will be confident in managing people, driving performance, developing team capability and maintaining strong client relationships. You will ensure that operational activities are effectively planned and delivered in line with business objectives, contractual requirements and client expectations.


Location: Customer Solution Centre, Slough, Berkshire
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £32,000–£36,000 per annum, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities


  • Set clear expectations, monitor performance and support the development of team members to ensure consistently high standards of planning and customer service.
  • Oversee the planning of all operational crews, ensuring work is planned to the required standard and supports the achievement of agreed completion and productivity targets.
  • Work closely with other Planning Managers to maximise productivity, resource utilisation and efficiency across the planning desk.
  • Work closely with Technical Specialists and Thames Water .
  • Liaise with Field Management teams to monitor engineer performance, productivity and operational delivery, identifying areas for improvement where required.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, field teams, technical specialists and the Thames Water client.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a team leadership or management role, preferably within an operational, planning or maintenance environment.
  • Strong people-management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues, field teams and senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to analyse performance, identify trends and implement improvements.
  • Experience of working to operational targets, KPIs or service-level requirements.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using planning, scheduling or operational systems.
