This role is responsible for cutting and prepping pipe, running and installing tubing, and operating shop equipment including band saws and ironworkers. This position plays a key role in feeding downstream welding, assembly, and integration work with accurate, clean, and on-time fabrication support.

This is a hands-on shop role for someone who can work safely, follow drawings and instructions, maintain quality, and contribute to production flow. The right person should be detail-oriented, mechanically capable, and willing to learn additional fabrication equipment and processes over time, including possible training on a knee mill.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cut, prep, and stage pipe for fabrication and welding operations
  • Measure, mark, and prepare material accurately according to drawings, cut lists, and work instructions
  • Run and install tubing according to drawings, routing requirements, and workmanship standards
  • Operate band saws, ironworkers, and other fabrication equipment safely and correctly
  • Deburr, grind, clean, bevel, and prep material for downstream work
  • Verify parts and materials are correct before cutting or fabricating
  • Maintain organized material flow and work area control to support production efficiency
  • Identify issues early, including bad material, dimensional errors, missing information, or tooling problems
  • Support fit-up and fabrication readiness for welders, assemblers, and integration teams
  • Perform basic inspection of completed work for accuracy, completeness, and workmanship
  • Always maintain safe work practices and proper use of PPE
  • Support continuous improvement in shop organization, tooling, and fabrication flow
  • Learn additional shop equipment and fabrication processes as needed, including possible operation of a knee mill

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical, or industrial shop environment
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform accurate measuring and marking
  • Ability to use hand tools, grinders, and basic fabrication equipment safely
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in a hands-on production environment
  • Ability to follow drawings, cut lists, work instructions, and direction from leads or supervisors
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work
  • Reliable attendance and consistent work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience cutting and prepping pipe in a fabrication environment
  • Experience running tubing and installing tubing systems
  • Experience operating band saws and ironworkers
  • Experience with stainless steel material handling and prep
  • Experience reading fabrication drawings or isometric drawings
  • Experience with deburring, beveling, and prep for weld-ready material
  • Interest in learning additional fabrication equipment, including a knee mill

What Success Looks Like

A strong Fabrication and Tubing Technician:

  • Produces accurate cuts and material prep without creating downstream rework
  • Keeps welders and assembly teams supplied with ready-to-use material
  • Maintains clean and organized work habits
  • Operates equipment safely and consistently
  • Learns quickly and expands capability over time
  • Helps improve flow instead of creating bottlenecks

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move pipe, tubing, and fabrication materials
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in an active shop environment
