Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – Full Time

Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center | Parksley, VA

Virginia Eastern Shore | Full-Time Benefits | Consistent Schedule

PTA on Virginia’s Eastern Shore? We’d really like to meet you.

AdvantageCare Rehabilitation is looking for a Full-Time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation team at Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Virginia.

If you're a PTA living on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, you shouldn't have to leave the Shore to find a full-time therapy opportunity where you can build relationships with your patients, become an established member of a rehab team, and grow your career.

This is an opportunity to do exactly that.

We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on patient care, values being part of a team, and wants to help older adults regain strength, mobility, balance, confidence and independence.

Whether you're an experienced PTA or a new graduate beginning your career, we'd love to have a conversation.

Why PTAs Choose AdvantageCare

AdvantageCare Rehabilitation has been providing rehabilitation services for more than 23 years, and we're therapist-founded and therapist-led.

Therapy isn't simply one service we offer. Rehabilitation is what we do.

That means we understand the importance of having clinical support, strong communication, a consistent schedule, and a rehab team that works together.

What You Can Expect

A consistent full-time opportunity. Become part of one rehab team and one patient community rather than piecing together multiple PRN positions.

A place where PTAs matter. You're an important part of the plan of care. Your observations, communication and clinical skills directly contribute to your patients' progress.

Collaborative therapy. Work alongside Physical Therapists and other rehabilitation professionals while being an active member of the interdisciplinary care team.

Meaningful patient relationships. You'll have the opportunity to follow patients over time and actually see the progress you're helping them achieve.

Therapist-led support. Our clinical leaders understand rehabilitation because they come from rehabilitation.

Opportunity to grow. Whether you want to strengthen your clinical skills or eventually explore leadership, Advantage believes in developing talent from within.

What Will You Do as a PTA?

Working under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist, you'll help carry out individualized treatment plans designed to improve patients' mobility and functional independence.

Your day may include:

  • Providing therapeutic exercise and functional activities
  • Working on strength, balance, gait, transfers and endurance
  • Helping patients improve bed mobility and functional movement
  • Providing gait training and assistive-device education
  • Working on fall-prevention and safety strategies
  • Monitoring patients' response to treatment
  • Communicating progress and changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
  • Educating patients, families and caregivers
  • Collaborating with PT, OT, SLP, nursing and other members of the care team
  • Completing accurate and timely documentation
  • Encouraging patients through every stage of their rehabilitation journey

You'll get to see firsthand what happens when someone progresses from needing significant assistance to doing more for themselves.

That's the part of therapy that makes the work worth it.

Why Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center?

Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center is located at 26181 Parksley Road in Parksley, Virginia, in Accomack County on Virginia's Eastern Shore. The center provides short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing and long-term care, with rehabilitation services that include Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy.

For a PTA, that means exposure to patients with a variety of rehabilitation needs rather than doing the same thing every day.

You may work with individuals recovering from hospitalization, surgery, illness, injury, weakness, falls or functional decline, helping them work toward greater independence and, when possible, a safe transition back home.

If you enjoy geriatrics, strengthening, balance, gait training and functional rehabilitation, this setting gives you the opportunity to use those skills every day.

Full-Time Benefits That Go Beyond Your Paycheck

As a Full-Time AdvantageCare employee, you'll have access to a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • Prescription Drug and Telemedicine Coverage
  • Paid Time Off
  • HSA and FSA Options
  • Life Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Free CEU Training Portal
  • $100 Annual License Reimbursement
  • Employee Referral and Recognition Programs
  • Wellness and Employee Engagement Programs
  • Professional development and career-growth opportunities

Experienced PTA? Bring Your Knowledge. New Grad? Bring Your Potential.

We want to talk to both.

If you're an experienced PTA, we value the clinical knowledge, confidence and perspective you can bring to the team.

If you're a new graduate PTA, don't scroll past because you don't have years of skilled nursing experience.

Everyone starts somewhere.

If you have a strong clinical foundation, enjoy working with people, want to learn, and are ready to begin building your career, we want to hear from you.

What We're Looking For

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
  • Current or eligible Virginia Physical Therapist Assistant license
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary team
  • Skilled nursing, geriatric or rehabilitation experience is a plus, but not required
  • New graduate PTAs are encouraged to apply
  • Most importantly: someone who genuinely enjoys helping people get better
