About this role

Overview

Provides pharmaceutical care services by ensuring that medication therapies are safe and effective for hospital patients. This is accomplished by evaluation and processing of medication orders, ensuring the correct medication(s) are dispensed and available, and providing consultations to patients, as well as clinical and medical staff.

Responsibilities

Daily supervision of pharmacy technicians and dispensing activities.

 

Oversight of medication packaging and distribution.

 

Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations as they relate to the practice of pharmacy.

 

Management of patient medication orders and medication dosing protocols.

 

Monitoring of labs and medication regimens as they pertain to medication protocols or patient-specific medication dosing. Perform antimicrobial stewardship monitoring and intervention as required.

 

Documentation of daily quality assurance measures.

 

Obtain home medication lists from patients, performs discharge medication counseling, and patient education as assigned.

 

Provide medication consults and education to clinical and medical staff as requested or assigned.

 

Training and/or precepting of pharmacy students, new pharmacists,  new pharmacy technicians, or other staff as needed.

 

Receive deliveries of medication and controlled substances from wholesalers and vendors.

Qualifications

Education: BS or PharmD degree from an institution recognized by the California Board of Pharmacy.Experience: Minimum of 1-4 years experience in hospital pharmacy or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Licenses & Certifications: Registered Pharmacist in good standing in the State of CaliforniaRequired Skills & Knowledge: Sound professional judgement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Comfortable with or able to rapidly learn the use of various computer software. Ability to supervise others. Good team and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage workloads in a flexible and efficient way. 

Compensation

Actual compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.

USD $95.41
