1.0 Job Description
Role description: Responsible for maintaining all crash cart by periodic checks and replenishment. Keeping up to date records of narcotic drugs usage in all wards/all ICUs/ Cathlab / HCC / O.T. etc. and collecting the used ampules and arranging for destruction of the same.
Responsibilities:
- Complies with state drug laws as regulated by the State Drug Controller.
- Maintaining records for controlled substances.
- Removing expiry and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory
- Supervising the work results of support personnel.
- Studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
- Provides pharmacological information; counseling patients on drug therapies, advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication storage.
- Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Identification, storage and usage of LASA (look alike sound alike), high risk, emergency drugs and narcotics.
- To sensitize the staff about NABH/ NABH related activities and to provide necessary training.
- To maintain crash cart as per the checklist on regular basis.
- To attend meetings/ seminars etc. as per direction of HOD.
- Checking prescriptions to ensure that no errors occur while dispensing the medicine.
- To raise indent(s) for replenishment of stock at IP Pharmacy.
- To keep track of manual issue of products at IP Pharmacy and follow up for computer entry on a daily basis.
- To attend customer’s complaint(s) and resolve. Complaints of serious nature shall be brought to the notice of Manager.
- To be responsible for the proper arrangement of items and cleanliness of the store.
- To look after the refrigerators and the proper storage items which need refrigeration and to maintain temperature log sheet for every refrigerator.
- To ensure that there are no expiry products in the shelves.
- To ensure that the pharmacy is clean and tidy.
- To be a part of emergency codes.
- To participate & impart training on standard operating procedures and safety measures to subordinate staff on regular basis.
- To ensure that subordinates adhere to the TAT (Turn around time) for delivery/ return of medicines.
- To maintain documents and records on matters related to the responsibilities entrusted as necessary.
- To ensure that Infection Control Protocols and Bio-Medical Waste management protocols are complied with.
- To be aware of hospital policies/ Codes/ PRE (patient rights and responsibilities)/ scope of service etc.

- To maintain the quality indicators as per the guidelines.
- To adhere to the job timings as stated by the HOD.
- Enhancement of I.T.
- Any other jobs as assigned by superiors from time to time.
2.0 Qualification & Experience
2.0. Bachelor/Diploma in Pharmacy
2.1. Desired 1 – 5 years of experience as Pharmacist
3.0 Skills
Good communication skill and customer friendly attitude, alert and enthusiastic, good knowledge on Pharmacology & dispensing medicine, ability to work carefully, methodically and accurately, knowledge on Drug Formulary, LASA/ Narcotic drugs etc., conscientious, motivated and willing to learn and committed and professional attitude.
