Location: St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO.
We are seeking a Patient Service Representative, internally referred to as Patient Access Representative or Patient Registration Clerk, in our high volume St. Joseph Medical Group office. As a Patient Service Rep, you interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits.
Responsibilities
- Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits
- Schedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling them in others
- Schedules patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers.
- Processes referals and schedules patients accordingly.
- Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances from patients, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issues
- Greets and checks in patients and takes all incoming phone calls and routes to appropriate staff or initiates messages
- Coordinates clinic business processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processing
- Must be able to: (1) operate a computer to accurately input and retrieve data; (2) communicate with the population served, staff, and providers utilizing age specific techniques; (3) maintain proficiency in medical terminology; (4) project a positive and helpful attitude.
Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in a medical setting, required.
- Customer Service experience required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of EPIC EHR is preferred.
