SCOPE

Reporting to the Community Development Manager, the Parenting Across the Life Cycle Training Coordinator will develop and implement training programs for Parenting Support Workers while assisting with special projects within the Community Development Portfolio.

The program supports Indigenous women in a culturally rooted and holistic manner, assisting women in navigating complex systems encountered when experiencing violence and involvement in child welfare matters. The Training Coordinator will develop training sessions, workshops, resource materials, and communication tools to support Parenting Support Workers in advocating for Indigenous women and their families. This position focuses on the development and delivery of training for Parenting Support Workers across the parenting continuum from infancy, childhood, youth, and beyond. The program supports ONWA’s commitment to reclaiming and restoring the role of Indigenous women as mothers, recognizing their inherent right to parent their children and maintain family connections.

The Training Coordinator will provide leadership in developing trauma-informed resources, training materials, and a Parenting Program Manual focused on parenting skill development, reunification processes, and culturally grounded approaches to supporting Indigenous women and families. The position will work collaboratively with other BFFV program staff to address community needs and service gaps while ensuring Indigenous women and families remain meaningfully engaged in program development and delivery.
