Job Description

To plan, organize and control production of “Metal Recovery Plant in Steel Industry Slag, Slag Evacuation from Furnace Pits, Slag Transportation and Scrap processing” in a Steel Manufacturing Industry, to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard.

Operations manager will lead the site operations team. A team of Team Leads, Shift In-charges, operators (Plant operators, Heavy Earthmoving Equipment operators etc) will be reporting to Operations Manager. He shall be reporting to Site Manager and will be one of the senior-most member of the team.

Roles and Responsibilities

Safety

  • Ensure implementation and adherence to Harsco’s health and safety procedures
  • Set training schedules and train the operators and shift in-charges in systems and operations.
  • Monitor quality standards of products
  • Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives
  • Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems
  • Arrange to achieve production budgets

Production – Control and Procedures

  • Plan daily production schedule for the slag and scrap Handling and processing.
  • Implement and control the production schedule
  • Review and adjust the schedule where needed
  • Determine the material resources required
  • Plan the entire team to operate efficiently in all the three shifts.
  • Manage human and material resources to meet production targets
  • Make decisions about equipment use, availability and utilization.
  • Experience of Data Metrics and well versed with data analytics.
  • monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement
  • prepare and maintain production reports
  • Determine and implement improvements to the production process
  • Work out and ensure implementation standard operating procedures for production operations

 

 

Co-ordination and Supports

  • Coordination with Maintenance department to optimize availability of resources.
  • Coordination with Customer on daily basis.
  • Manage production budgets
  • Implement cost control programs

Qualifications

  • Require a bachelor's degree in mechanical Engineering, Automobile engineering, Production Technology, industrial engineering, or chemical engineering with an experience preferably in steel melt shop or blast furnace at-least 15 years. Or Three years diploma in above said streams with 20 years of experience in steel manufacturing industry – Steel melt shop or Blast Furnace.
  • Good computer skills in excel, ppt and html usage.
