About the Role

 

The Ocean Freight Customer Service Coordinator provides day-to-day support for ocean freight customers, ensuring accurate documentation, timely updates, and smooth coordination between internal teams and external partners. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service while assisting with operational tasks under guidance.

This position can be based in either Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Sydney.

A Day in Life of an Ocean Freight Customer Service Representative:

  • Act as a point of contact for routine customer inquiries and provide shipment updates.
  • Assist with processing ocean shipments and preparing documentation in line with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Update shipment details in CargoWise One (CW1) and maintain accurate records.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (operations, warehouse, transport) for basic service requirements.
  • Support cargo pick-up and delivery arrangements as directed by senior staff.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (ABF, DAFF, COR) under supervision.
  • Escalate issues such as delays or documentation discrepancies to senior team members promptly.
  • Assist with invoicing and administrative tasks related to customer accounts.
  • Contribute to a team-oriented environment and collaborate to meet service standards.

Previous Work Experience & Qualifications

 

  • 1–2 years’ experience in customer service or logistics (entry-level candidates with relevant training may be considered).

  • Basic understanding of ocean freight processes and regulations is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office; exposure to freight systems (e.g., CargoWise One) preferred.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

  • Detail-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow.

  • Customer-focused and team-oriented approach.
