Non-Emergency Transport Specialist

The Halifax Health Non-Emergency Transportation program is to provide safe travel of patients to and from inter-facility locations i.e. Hospice, Halifax Health Main Campus, Halifax Health Hospital Port Orange, Assisted Living Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities and Private Residences, working with internal departments, Case Management, Clinical Floors and Security, in a safe and professional manner at all times. Drivers will be responsible for the patient and accompanying clinical personnel while maintaining the vehicle fleet and the equipment. Ensure that the vehicle has all required necessary supplies, the completion of all transport tickets, vehicle checklist and inspection documentation. Communications with the dispatch office of any changes in shift schedule or patient care and maintaining Halifax Health code of ethics.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Current and valid Florida Drivers License.

Must be 21 years of age.

First Aid/ CPR/ AED.

Knowledge Of:

First Aide / CPR / AED.

Ability to navigate in the surrounding areas of Volusia/Flagler Counties. A Must

Operation of medical oxygen.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

Ability to operate an ambulance type vehicle, in a safe manner at all times and in accordance with FL State Statute.

The driver is responsible for the ambulance type vehicle.

Responsible for monitoring discharged patients and inter facility patients at all times.

Ability to follow and comprehend verbal/written instructions.

Conduct vehicle inspections documenting any discrepancies

Verify all medical equipment is operating properly at all times

Report to work on time.

Transport clients to their destinations on time and in a safe manner.

Provide Assistance to all clients in and out of the transportation vehicle.

Report any traffic delays while en-route, incidents and or accidents to communications to avoid delays with delivery and/or pick-ups.

Must be able to operate within guidelines an 800MHz radio as part of the County Public Safety Communications system.

Must wear the appropriate provided uniforms and have a clean professional appearance at all times.

Any other tasks assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Patient transportation experience preferred.

Experience working with sick, injured or disabled individuals.

Experience working with medical transportation equipment.

Possess good communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be mobile throughout both on and offsite facilities.

Must endure long periods of driving, Β walking, standing, sitting, bending and carrying of light items is required.

Must be physically fit to perform your duties, lifting over 100 pounds on a regular basis.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to all types of environment including indoors and outdoors with prolonged exposure to elements and inclement weather.

Daily contact with all levels of administration, management, physicians, patients, visitors, law enforcement, fire, and other emergency personnel.

Exposure to combative patients, visitors, and persons suffering from all types of sickness and mental illness.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT/ WORK AIDS/LICENSURE:

All equipment provided

May use a Hands free G.P.S. for directions.

First Aide/CPR/AED

Be Familiar with wheel chairs, stretchers, walkers and all other medical transport equipment that may apply
