We're looking for a skilled engineer to play a key role in keeping our Kirkham production facilities operating at peak performance. You'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving a wide range of manufacturing equipment, helping to minimise downtime and drive operational excellence.

Working closely with Production, Quality, and Health & Safety teams, you'll ensure equipment reliability while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance.

Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off rotating shift pattern

Please note that flexibility is required during the initial training and probation period, which may involve working on either day or night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong working relationships with Production Managers, Supervisors, and Line Leaders to support efficient operations.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a broad range of production and manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults quickly and effectively to minimise downtime.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to key stakeholders across the business.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of preventative and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Support Engineering and Production teams in achieving key operational targets and KPIs.
  • Monitor equipment and production line performance, identifying potential issues before they impact production.
  • Respond rapidly to performance deterioration, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers on new installations, upgrades, and machinery modifications.
  • Maintain accurate records and work orders within the CMMS maintenance management system.
  • Apply strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Trades Qualification – ONC or equivalent is desirable.
  • 3+ years post qualification experience in food production or similar environment would be beneficial.
  • Practical experience of maintaining conveyors, packing machines (including flow wrappers, food processing equipment, robotics or similar machinery is desirable.
  • Understanding of modern maintenance roles
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
