UW Credit Union’s Mortgage Lending department is growing and hiring a new Mortgage Post Closer to join our Mortgage team! The Mortgage Post Closer is responsible for the daily post closing functions for UWCU mortgage loan products. This position ensures all loan packages meet investor requirements. This role assists and educates retail staff, and members in mortgage servicing related topics.

 

This position must effectively carry out the essential duties of this position in a manner that consistently demonstrates the core values of the organization in a positive manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand working knowledge of the various mortgage programs offered by UW
  • Continue to have a current understanding of all investors, state and federal guidelines, which include knowledge of regulations and all other policies that would have implications for UW Credit Union lending abilities.
  • Review and verify loan paperwork received is accurate and complete. Scan and file loan documentation accurately, orderly and legibly into loan origination system and/or document storage.
  • Review final title policies to ensure UW Credit Union secures the first lien position and ensure any outstanding judgment, liens, or special assessments are clear of title.
  • Manage timely receipt of loan documentation through email, fax, mail, and interoffice mail, reviewing for accuracy, following up as needed with third party vendors, retail staff, or members.
  • Perform closing package review to validate documents meet all investors, state and federal guidelines
  • Perform daily balancing duties such as reviewing electronic journal and reconciling department cashier’s checks.
  • Perform audits in accordance to the Data Automation New Loan Interface Daily Audit procedure.
  • Perform servicing functions including but not limited to payment corrections, payoffs, internal ACH transfers, review of incoming documentation and respond to internal and/or external customers.
  • Efficiently and accurately resolve member inquiries and troubleshoot issues through proficient use of tools and resources
  • Respond to all requests in a timely manner by composing personalized, professional emails, letters, and other correspondence to internal and external members, and vendors, seeking out opportunities to exceed expectations.
  • Take responsibility for personal development through training, collaboration and teamwork.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The individual must be able to successfully pass background checks.

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working in an office environment or administrative-type role required 
  • 0-12 months mortgage operations experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Secondary Market underwriting guidelines desired 
  • Knowledge of guidelines and regulations, i.e. Investors, TRID, RESPA, etc desired
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective mortgage lending and post closing requirements desired
  • The ability to positively and professionally interact with internal and external members
  • Must be able to work independently, organize and prioritize work in an efficient manner
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work under and meet deadlines.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to use financial calculators
