Heidelberg Materials is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Quarry Mining Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship provides hands-on exposure to aggregate mining operations and the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic production environment. The selected candidate will gain practical experience supporting quarry operations, process improvements, mine planning, and operational efficiency initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assist with quarry planning, mine design, and production analysis activities.
- Support operational improvement projects focused on safety, efficiency, and productivity.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret production, equipment, and operational performance data.
- Participate in field inspections and collaborate with quarry personnel to identify process optimization opportunities.
- Contribute to environmental, regulatory, and safety compliance initiatives across site operations.
What Are We Looking For
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in mining, aggregates, heavy industrial operations, or construction materials.
- Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make sound recommendations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Commitment to workplace safety and willingness to work in both office and field environments.
Work Environment
- Primarily based at an active quarry operation with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, uneven terrain, and industrial equipment.
- Combination of fieldwork and office-based assignments.
- Frequent interaction with operations, maintenance, quality control, and leadership teams.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required and provided as appropriate for site activities.
