About this role

Job Description 

The Mine Truck Driver position is expected to work as a valued member of the mining operations team. This job consists primarily of operating a tandem dump truck to transport clay and other raw materials from the mine stockpiles to the plant mixing operation. The Mine Truck Driver may also operate a water truck to control dust on mine roads leading to the brick manufacturing plant. 

Work Schedule: 

  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday 7:30AM to 5PM, timing could change depending on production. Saturday work is sometimes required 

Essential Functions

  • Operate company-owned trucks in a constant state of alertness and safe manner to facilitate material transport. 
  • Properly follow company and MSHA safety procedures. 
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to the superintendent; clean equipment as required. 
  • Follow daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job assignments and training. 
  • Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition. 
  • Assist in training lower-level employees in the operation, maintenance, and repair duties as required or assigned. 

Physical Requirements  

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, twisting.  
  • Lifting and carrying materials up to 50-100 pounds, occasionally.  
  • Climbing stairs and ladders as needed  
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements  
  • Ability to work in environments with elevated temperatures  

Work Environment  

  • Industrial manufacturing environment  
  • Exposure to dust, heat, steam, and noise  
  • Exposure to moving mechanical equipment  
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

  • Ability to read, write, and understand written instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation  
  • Basic mechanical aptitude  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers  
  • Ability to maintain attention to safety and quality standards  

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of equipment maintenance. 
  • Ability to read and interpret operational manuals, production schedules, and safety guidelines. 
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. 
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments under varying weather conditions. 
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. 
  • Stand for long periods, and work in varied environments (heat, dust, noise) 
  • Comfortable working in high-temperature environments.  
  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting. 
  • Ability to pass all required safety training.
