What this role is all about

As a Software Engineer in our Platform Base team at Infobip, you will build and evolve the systems that keep our communication platform observable, scalable, and reliable at global scale. Depending on the team you join, you could work on services that monitor traffic across the entire Infobip platform, enable alerting and service configuration for internal teams, or support high-performance SMS and messaging flows with strict latency and reliability requirements. You will be part of a cross-functional engineering team responsible for backend services that process large volumes of traffic and operational metrics in real time. The role combines software engineering, distributed systems, and operational ownership in an environment where performance, reliability, and continuous improvement are central to daily work.

What you’ll do

  • Design, develop, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot backend services that support core platform and messaging capabilities

  • Build systems that track and process traffic and operational metrics across the Infobip platform

  • Develop scalable and reliable distributed services with a focus on high throughput and low latency

  • Contribute to internal tooling used for platform monitoring, alerting, and service configuration management

  • Work with data-intensive systems and relational databases to aggregate and expose operational insights

  • Take end-to-end ownership of the solutions you build, including deployment, monitoring, and production support

  • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and platform stakeholders to deliver reliable technical solutions

  • Contribute to engineering discussions, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team

  • Apply an AI-first mindset when approaching engineering problems

  • Effectively leverage AI to improve code quality, testing processes, and technical documentation

What makes you a strong fit

  • At least 3+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software engineering roles

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented programming and concurrent or parallel systems

  • Experience building and maintaining distributed backend systems in production environments

  • Experience working with relational databases and data-intensive applications

  • Understanding of scalability, reliability, observability, and performance optimization in backend systems

  • Comfortable working in agile development environments with iterative delivery and team collaboration

  • Openness to working in a Java-focused environment and learning new technologies when needed

  • Proactive and ownership-driven approach to problem solving and operational responsibility

  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written

Nice-to-have qualifications

  • Production experience with Java or another backend programming language

  • Experience with monitoring, observability, or alerting systems

  • Familiarity with messaging, streaming, caching, or event-driven architectures

  • Experience working with high-throughput or low-latency systems

  • Exposure to infrastructure, platform engineering, or internal tooling development

  • Interest in working across evolving domains, products, and engineering challenges
