We currently have an opportunity for a MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls and Automation) Engineer to join our engineering team.  This position within our M&E engineering team will suit a committed and ambitious engineer who can demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to play their part in a dynamic high-performance team.

 

Act as Engineer on a variety of engineering, transportation and infrastructure design projects. Working within budgets, programmes and quality assurance, as part of a small team, in the delivery of client projects.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Prepare outline and detailed design for multi or single disciplinary projects as required.
  • Follow and check procedures throughout project delivery.
  • Report updates to senior Engineers, technical leads and the project management team on project progress.
  • Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by th be operations of SYSTRA throughout design lifecycle.
  • Contribute to company-wide goals and business improvement.
  • Continue your own professional development with support from SYSTRA in line with your professional body.
  • Any other duties as required.

Profile/Skills

General

  • Good knowledge and experience within own discipline, with an understanding/ awareness of the impact of other relevant or interfacing discipline’s engineering design and detailing.
  • Knowledge of construction principles and standards relevant to own discipline.
  • Experience of working as a design engineer under supervision with responsibilities for deliverables within a work package / project.
  • Production of quality deliverables in line with relevant standards and best practice.
  • Awareness of commercial and contract conditions as they relate to the delivery of budgets/timescales.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant computer analysis programmes.
  • Working towards professional registration with a professional body / engineering institute i.e. ICE, IET, IMechE.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant to own discipline (see accompanying addendum).

Specific

  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical design such a pumps, motor control centres (MCCs), screening equipment, low voltage electrical systems, motor control, electrical protection systems, PLCs, SCADA, telemetry and automation systems.
  • Experience of undertaking design & delivery of projects within water, wastewater or similar process driven environments (chemical, food, petrochemical, pharmaceutical).
  • Good knowledge of producing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), complying with UK water industry standards.
  • Experience with WIMES (Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications) and pumping system control philosophies.
  • Qualification: HNC or equivalent.
