It is the home to Headquarters, Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, the Atlantic Test Range, Patuxent River Naval Air Museum, and serves as a center for test and evaluation and systems acquisition relating to naval aviation.

Salary Range $51,210 - $66,574 per year

Responsibilities

As a Medical Technician you will:

 

  • Perform a wide variety of tests in the areas of Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Diagnostic Immunology, and Phlebotomy in accordance with the regulatory guidelines.
  • Set up computerized equipment by selecting and entering the correct patient ID and programs information based on the type of analysis to be performed.
  • Prepare specimens and obtains supplies necessary for analysis.
  • Evaluate requested procedures to determine the suitability of specimen for analysis, requesting new specimen if determined to be unusable.
  • Calibrate equipment using standardized procedures and performs daily standardized quality control.
  • Input data and actions in appropriate Quality Control and Quality Assurance logs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance functions daily or as required.
  • Performs Other Duties as Assigned

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing testing procedures in a clinical laboratory, calibrating or maintaining clinical laboratory instruments, preparing samples for testing, and documenting results through clinical laboratory automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).OREducation: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Microbiology or other related health science fields. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
