About this role

About Us

Eden is pioneering sustainable natural resource recovery by using electricity to enhance subsurface permeability. Our Electrical Reservoir Stimulation technology offers a precise, water-efficient alternative to traditional hydraulic fracturing, reducing environmental risks while maximizing resource extraction.

Backed by leading public and private institutions, we have raised ~$24M, including $14M in dilutive capital from industry leaders such as Anglo American and Helmerich & Payne, along with climate-focused investors like the Grantham Foundation. Additionally, we have secured $10M in non-dilutive funding, primarily through four DOE ARPA-E grants that support our R&D in frontier industries.

Headquartered in Somerville, MA, Eden's team of 16 experts specializes in geophysics, geochemistry, high-voltage engineering, and subsurface tool design. We are actively demonstrating our next-generation permeability enhancement technology across diverse geologies worldwide, collaborating with industry leaders in geothermal energy, geologic hydrogen, carbon storage, and mining to redefine resource recovery for a carbon-neutral future.

Looking ahead, we are preparing for field tests, in cooperation with our supportive technical partners.

Your Impact

  • Fabricate, assemble, and test mechanical and structural hardware that houses and protects Eden's electrical and power systems.
  • Support senior engineers in the design of pressure housings, enclosures, and structural components, then build and bench-test them.
  • Run hands-on test setups: instrument hardware, take measurements, and help troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Work directly with electrical and power-electronics teammates to integrate mechanical parts with enclosures, sensors, and cabling.
  • Coordinate with machine shops, fabrication partners, and vendors to get parts made, checked, and delivered.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals (textbooks, hand calcs, basic FEA) to size parts and check your work as needed.
  • Learn on the job: take direction and feedback from senior engineers and grow your skills across design, fabrication, and test.
  • Occasionally support field test campaigns (travel roughly 10%), helping configure and commission mechanical systems.

About You

  • Bachelor's (or equivalent hands-on experience) in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
  • Roughly 0 to 4 years of experience, with real time spent building things, not only designing them on a screen.
  • Genuinely hands-on: comfortable with a pipe wrench, a multimeter, and a machine shop, plus general fabrication, assembly, and test setup.
  • Working proficiency with SolidWorks for CAD. Able to reason through problems with fundamentals when needed.
  • Some familiarity with electrical integration: building mechanical parts that interface with enclosures, sensors, and cabling.
  • Eager to be coached: you take feedback well, ask questions, and want to grow under senior engineers rather than already having all the answers.
  • Clear communicator who can work across electrical, mechanical, and geoscience teammates in a fast-moving R&D startup.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with pressure systems, high-temperature hardware, or other demanding physical environments.
  • Familiarity with dielectric materials, electrode housings, or sensor and data-acquisition integration.
  • Machine shop certifications or hands-on manufacturing training.
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401k
  • Vacation โ€“ Federal holidays off, Thanksgiving holidays, Christmas and New Year, 15 additional workdays per year (3 weeks) vacation time
  • Sick days, bereavement time
  • Stock Options
