About this role

Are you a student eager to apply your theoretical knowledge and fresh perspectives to real-world challenges? At Saab, we believe that innovation thrives on new ideas, and your master thesis project could be the spark that ignites our next technological breakthrough.

Your role

We recognize the immense value that students bring to our company. Your academic rigor, combined with your enthusiasm for cutting-edge technology, allows you to approach problems with a unique and insightful lens. At Saab, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced engineers and specialists, gaining invaluable practical experience while making a tangible contribution to our growth and development.

Background
Active electronically scanned array (AESA) antennas contain thousands of antenna elements, making compact circuit design essential.

Separate gate-driver circuits are currently used to control amplifier gate bias and pulsed operation. These additional components can occupy a significant amount of circuit board space. Integrating the gate driver onto the amplifier chip offers a promising approach to reducing the overall footprint.

Saab Surveillance, a business area within Saab AB, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of surveillance solutions, avionics and sensor systems that help detect and locate threats and provide protection against them.

You will join the Microwave and Antenna Design unit in Gothenburg. The unit is responsible for microwave and antenna design for most of Saab Surveillance’s radar and electronic warfare (EW) products.

Description of the Thesis Project
The aim of this project is to design a monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) amplifier with an integrated gate driver.

The project will involve:

•                        Reviewing the literature on integrated gate drivers in MMIC technology.

•                        Evaluating alternative design concepts and selecting the most promising approach.

•                        Designing an MMIC microwave amplifier with an integrated gate driver.

•                        Documenting the work in a thesis report and presenting the results.

Your profile

This project is suitable for one or two students completing a master’s-level engineering degree.

You have an interest in microwave engineering and control engineering, with a particular enthusiasm for MMIC design.

We provide the support and guidance you need to translate your theoretical knowledge into practical solutions. Join us and become a driving force behind Saab's technological advancements!
