Marine Fire-fighting System Design Engineer
About this role
A. PRIMARY PURPOSE (WHY DOES THIS JOB EXISTS)
1. Perform various fire-fighting system pre-design, calculation and cost estimation work for all fire-fighting
systems, such as HP/LP CO2, High/Low Foam, Dry powder and water mist system.
2. Monitor market condition and investigate 3rd parties, prices, and competitors' movement
3. Cost investigation and estimation and compare the requirements from yard, owner and class
4. Check and review related rule and regulation and apply to our design and system.
B. PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Investigate market cost price and find valuable 3rd parties.
2. Register new items and vendors.
3. Technical review RFQ (Request For Quotation) and make it clear if thereβs anything unclear.
4. System engineering
- Review project specification and rules/requirement.
- Schematic drawing, deviation list & review from shipyard as well as clearing comments from them.
- Review & decide material and components for specific project.
- Sourcing material suppliers and taking quotation for material less than US$ 10K.
- Request BOM registering.
5. Cost Estimation management
- Pre-design for capacity calculation and accurate cost estimation.
- Update the cost table for actual execution price.
- Update check list for special requirements of class and shipyard.
- Provide alternatives, options and/or deviations request
6. Design for approval and manufacturing
- Drawings for approval of shipyard, ship-owner and class reflecting technical matters discussed in the TBE stage
- Change approval drawing to manufacturing drawing
- Provide BOM (Bill of Material) and purchase request based on manufacturing drawing
7. Sales support
- Cost review report for all components including class inspection fee and engineering fee.
- Assist quotation work after reviewing technical specification for projects
- Process monthly closing work for sales parts as cost to go.
8. Review and study new rule, code & standard, if necessary, adapt and apply to our product and system
9. Carry out an in-house proposal system in order to up-grade our product and system technically.
C. EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
1. Marine fire-fighting system design.
2. Approval drawing work for shipyard and marine class.
3. Technical review of specification from shipyard, marine class and shipowner.
4. Auto CAD tool available for system drawing work.
5. Experienced in the field of machinery, electric and piping.
6. Skill and knowledge of fire-fighting system for main components.
7. English Skill (Read, Speak, Write, Hearing) : fluent
