About this role

If you are an engineer who likes being on the manufacturing floor, troubleshooting equipment, improving how machines run, and seeing your projects go from an idea to a working production solution, this may be the role for you.

Kleen Test Products (KTP), one of North America's largest contract manufacturers and packagers of wet wipes, liquids, and other consumer products, is looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Project Engineer to join our Strasburg, OH operation.

This isn't a desk-only engineering position. You'll work directly with production equipment, maintenance, operators, vendors, and plant leadership to solve manufacturing problems, improve existing lines, and bring new equipment and processes into production.

What You'll Work On

  • Troubleshoot and solve mechanical, electrical, controls, and production equipment problems
  • Improve manufacturing equipment and processes to increase throughput, reduce scrap, improve reliability, and improve labor efficiency
  • Develop practical equipment modifications and solutions for existing production lines
  • Support new equipment installations, line startups, production trials, and commissioning
  • Work side-by-side with Maintenance and Production to identify root causes and implement lasting fixes
  • Analyze production data to find performance losses and improvement opportunities
  • Develop equipment concepts, specifications, layouts, and project requirements
  • Work with equipment manufacturers, integrators, contractors, and other vendors from concept through installation
  • Assist with production line assembly, setup, and troubleshooting
  • Train Maintenance and Production employees on new equipment and processes
  • Provide technical support during customer trials and new product launches
  • Lead continuous improvement projects throughout the plant
  • Provide leadership support on the production floor when needed

What can KTP do for you?

  • Develop Yourself: We offer ongoing opportunities for growth and advancement. Whether you’re looking to build your leadership skills or expand your technical expertise, KTP provides the training, resources, and support you need to succeed.

We're looking for someone who understands manufacturing equipment, not just engineering theory.

You may be a strong fit if you have:

  • An engineering or technical degree or significant hands-on manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience working directly with production machinery and automated manufacturing equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems on the plant floor
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical/control systems, sensors, drives, PLC-controlled equipment, or industrial automation
  • Experience improving equipment performance, throughput, scrap, downtime, or labor efficiency
  • The ability to take a problem from root-cause analysis through implementation
  • Experience coordinating equipment installations, vendors, contractors, or capital projects
  • CAD experience, preferably AutoCAD
  • Strong Excel and data-analysis skills
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with operators, Maintenance, Production leadership, vendors, customers, and management

We would especially like to hear from candidates with experience in:

  • High-speed manufacturing or packaging
  • Automated production equipment
  • Conveyors, filling, converting, packaging, robotics, or similar equipment
  • PLCs, controls, drives, sensors, and machine troubleshooting

  • Continuous improvement in a manufacturing plant

We're looking for someone who knows manufacturing equipment and knows how to solve problems.
