About this role

Taiga is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead our Manufacturing Engineering and Automation team and own the strategy, performance, and continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes behind our electric powersport vehicles and powertrains. This role reports to the VP of Operations and works from the Taiga head office and manufacturing facility in LaSalle, Quebec. 



Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager drives production efficiency, throughput, build time optimization, automation initiatives, and tooling investments while serving as the technical leader on the manufacturing floor. Balancing strategic planning with hands-on problem solving, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads critical production improvements, resolves complex manufacturing challenges, and deploys engineering resources to support scalable, high-quality production.


What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering and Automation team, providing technical direction, coaching, and project prioritization.
  • Own the manufacturing engineering strategy to meet production throughput, standard build times, process capability, and manufacturing efficiency requirements.
  • Oversee production line design, workflow, equipment layout, and automation initiatives to support current production and future growth.
  • Serve as the technical leader for manufacturing problem solving, providing hands-on leadership to resolve critical line stoppages, product issues, and complex production challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through root cause analysis, value stream mapping, Ishikawa (fishbone), and other Lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Own manufacturing tooling strategy and capital equipment planning, including evaluation, implementation, and continuous optimization.
  • Prioritize Manufacturing Engineering resources, determining where to personally lead technical initiatives and where to delegate projects across the team to maximize impact.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Engineering to support new product introductions and continuously improve manufacturing performance.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a complex manufacturing environment (automotive, transportation, heavy equipment, or similar).
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Full-time site-based role
  • Experience with manufacturing process design, automation, tooling, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to supporting production.
  • Experience leading projects and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
