KLA has manufacturing sites worldwide. The Global Operations (GOPS) team, comprised of Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Installation and Quality, builds our leading-edge technology. GOPS partners with KLA's global supply base and design engineering teams to develop new products, working continuously to build better, faster and more cost-efficient solutions.

At KLA SensArray, we manufacture highly specialised semiconductor metrology equipment used by leading semiconductor manufacturers worldwide. Based at our state-of-the-art facility in Newport, South Wales, this role offers the opportunity to work in a clean, precision manufacturing environment where attention to detail and craftsmanship are critical to product quality.


As a Manufacturing Assembler you will be responsible for coating & bonding and sleeving operations used in the assembly of silicon wafer-based products. Working under microscopes and using precision hand tools, you will help deliver products to the highest quality standards within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.


Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities


Coating & Bonding

  • Apply specialist coatings, adhesives and encapsulants to silicon wafers and assemblies.
  • Perform precision bonding operations using microscopes and specialist hand tools.
  • Prepare surfaces and components prior to coating and bonding activities.
  • Ensure adhesive coverage, bond quality and cosmetic standards meet process requirements.
  • Handle delicate silicon substrates and components safely to prevent damage.

Sleeving & Assembly

  • Install protective sleeving and strain relief materials to product assemblies.
  • Assemble components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and process specifications.
  • Perform trimming, finishing and preparation activities to support downstream manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship throughout all assembly activities.

Inspection & Quality

  • Conduct visual inspections using microscopes and magnification equipment.
  • Identify workmanship defects and escalate quality concerns where required.
  • Complete documentation accurately and maintain manufacturing records.
  • Support incoming, in-process and final inspections as required.

General Manufacturing Duties

  • Follow standard operating procedures and manufacturing processes.
  • Work safely with approved cleaning agents, adhesives and process chemicals.
  • Support continuous improvement activities to improve quality, efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and professional work area.

Experience and Qualifications


Essential

  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable performing repetitive precision tasks under a microscope.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Strong quality mindset and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in precision manufacturing, electronics assembly, medical device manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing or semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Experience working under magnification or microscopes.
  • Experience with adhesive application, coating, bonding, potting, encapsulation or similar assembly processes.
  • Understanding of quality standards and inspection techniques.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • NVQ, BTEC, apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday.
