Trueline is seeking a Managing Attorney to lead the legal team of an established, growing estate planning and elder law firm.

This is an opportunity for an experienced attorney who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and maintaining high standards of legal work. You’ll oversee attorneys and paralegals across multiple offices while helping the firm strengthen its training, client service, and operational consistency.

The role is approximately 80% leadership and management and 20% client meetings. You’ll report to the founding attorney on legal matters and the CEO on business and operational matters.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, coach, and supervise attorneys, paralegals, and Medicaid/public benefits support staff.
  • Oversee legal work involving estate planning, trusts, probate, estate administration, and elder law.
  • Review files and work product for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to firm standards.
  • Monitor deadlines and performance measures related to drafting, trust funding, public benefits matters, and client service.
  • Develop team members through training, feedback, and observation of client meetings.
  • Lead selected client consultations and coach attorneys on helping prospective clients make informed decisions about engaging the firm.
  • Identify workflow improvements and help implement consistent processes across offices.
  • Partner with leadership on staffing, legal risk, service quality, and growth.
  • Travel monthly among the firm’s four offices.
  • Provide occasional support for urgent matters outside regular hours, including during time away when necessary.

What You’ll Bring

  • A Juris Doctor degree and an active Ohio or West Virginia law license.
  • Admission in both states, or the ability to obtain the second admission within six months, subject to verification of eligibility and processing timelines.
  • Substantial estate planning and elder law experience, including familiarity with Medicaid planning, trust administration, and probate.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising attorneys and legal support staff.
  • A track record of reviewing legal work, managing deadlines, and coaching team members.
  • Comfort using performance measures to improve quality, productivity, and client service.
  • Strong client consultation skills and the ability to discuss services and fees clearly.
  • Sound judgment, strong organization, and a collaborative leadership style.
  • Willingness to travel among offices each month.

Experience in a multi-office estate planning or elder law firm is especially valuable. Practice leaders, supervising attorneys, and firm owners with relevant team management experience are encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Approximately $150,000 base salary, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
  • Quarterly performance bonus with a $50,000 annual target, bringing target annual compensation to approximately $200,000. Bonus earnings are performance-based and not guaranteed.
  • Medical coverage beginning after 60 days, with multiple plan options. Employee premiums vary by plan and coverage tier; dependent coverage carries substantially higher costs.
  • Dental and vision benefits, including employer-paid vision coverage.
  • Firm-paid life insurance and optional supplemental benefits.
  • 401(k) with an employer match of up to 4% when contributing 5%, subject to plan terms.
  • 15 days of PTO, prorated in the first year, plus 40 hours of paid volunteer time.
  • Free estate planning for employees and discounts for family members.
