About this role

About Saturday Art Class (SArC)

At Saturday Art Class (SArC), we believe that every child deserves the tools to imagine, express, and grow. Saturday Art Class is a non-profit organization that provides Visual Arts and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) education to children from low-income communities in India. By creating safe spaces for students to express themselves, we help them build essential skills to thrive during their formative years.
Since 2016, our programs have directly impacted 190,000+ students across India. SArC's journey has been powered by educators, artists, learners, and changemakers who believe in the transformative power of art. Join us as we continue to make creativity a right—not a privilege—for every child.

About the Role

As the Manager – Training and Program Implementation, you will lead the design and implementation of SArC’s programs across states, translating program goals into effective, contextual, and scalable approaches.
The role combines program leadership, team management, and government engagement. You will guide implementation teams, develop educator capacity-building approaches, work with government and non-profit partners, and use field learning to strengthen program quality, ownership, and scale.
The ideal candidate is a strong program thinker and people leader who can balance strategy with execution and build sustainable systems for program delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Program Design & Implementation Leadership

  • Lead the design and implementation of SArC’s state and project-level programs, translating goals into clear implementation strategies, roadmaps, and priorities.
  • Develop and strengthen contextual, scalable, and sustainable approaches to educator capacity building and classroom implementation.
  • Adapt program strategies based on state context, field realities, partner needs, and implementation learning.
  • Work across teams to ensure effective integration of curriculum, training, monitoring, resources, and operations.

2. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the implementation team, providing clarity on priorities, ownership, and outcomes.
  • Build the team’s ability to think, problem-solve, make decisions, and lead, rather than relying on execution directed by the manager.
  • Allocate team capacity and resources effectively across programs and states.
  • Establish regular reviews and feedback mechanisms to strengthen accountability, learning, and performance.

3. Government & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and manage relationships with state and district education departments, SCERTs, government officials, and implementation partners.
  • Understand government priorities, structures, and processes and use these to shape relevant and feasible program strategies.
  • Represent SArC in government discussions, reviews, and strategic conversations.
  • Identify opportunities to move programs from SArC-led implementation towards government ownership, institutionalisation, and scale.

4. Program Quality, Capacity Building & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee program quality across training, educator practice, and classroom implementation, ensuring alignment with intended outcomes.
  • Design and oversee relevant training, ToTs, refresher sessions, and ongoing educator support as part of the overall program.
  • Use classroom observations, feedback, implementation data, and field insights to identify gaps and drive course correction.
  • Document and translate implementation learnings into improvements in program design, training approaches, and tools.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, Arts, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in educator training, capacity building, program management, learning and development, or teacher professional development.
  • Experience designing and facilitating training for educators or adult learners.
  • Experience working with government education systems, NGOs, or development sector organizations is preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across India.

Skills & Mindset

  • Strong facilitation and instructional design skills, with the ability to develop and contextualize training approaches for diverse audiences and state contexts.
  • Strong program planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables effectively.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly the ability to build relationships and work effectively with government and partner organisations.
  • Strong team collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to work across functions and support team development.
  • Adaptable, self-driven, and organised, with proficiency in Google Workspace and digital learning tools.
