About this role

What is JetZero?

Today’s aircraft contribute around 4% of global CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 200 million cars. This is only going to increase: Air travel is forecasted to double by 2050, while meaningful efficiency gains using current airplanes have hit a wall.

JetZero is developing a blended-wing body (BWB) aircraft. It uses up to 50% less fuel and will be built to accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. JetZero is the inevitable solution to sustainable air travel.

The JetZero Team

We are experienced aerospace professionals and engineers, excited about the future. That future will only be possible if we share our vision and what it means to people’s lives: carbon-free flight that' is better for both passengers and airlines around the world.

The Manager, Maintenance Programs leads a team responsible for developing, authoring, and managing the full ecosystem of maintenance programs and requirements for commercial transport aircraft. This role serves as the technical authority for translating airworthiness standards and design intent into structured, certification-compliant maintenance programs, from initial requirements development through entry into service and beyond.

The Manager, Maintenance Programs champions the integration of a digital thread across the maintenance ecosystem, ensuring that maintenance data, requirements, and program documentation are connected, traceable, and actionable from design through operations. This leader partners closely with Design Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, and airline customers to ensure the aircraft is designed for maintainability and supported by a world-class maintenance program.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance program professionals, providing technical direction, mentorship, and workload oversight across multiple aircraft programs.

Maintenance Program Ecosystem

  • Own the development and authorship of the aircraft's complete maintenance program ecosystem, including Maintenance Review Board Reports (MRBR), Airworthiness Limitations (AWL), Certification Maintenance Requirements (CMR), Structural Inspection Programs, and Corrosion Prevention and Control Programs (CPCP).
  • Lead MSG-3 analysis activities, facilitating Maintenance Review Board working groups with airline representatives, regulators, and internal engineering teams to develop and validate maintenance tasks, intervals, and logic.
  • Partner with Reliability Engineering, Fleet Support, and airline operators to incorporate in-service data and operational feedback into maintenance program updates, interval escalations, and program optimization.

Digital Thread & Data Ecosystem

  • Champion the development and implementation of a maintenance digital thread — ensuring that maintenance requirements, tasks, and data are traceable from design intent through certification documentation, operator maintenance manuals, and in-service program revisions.
  • Drive the architecture of a connected maintenance data ecosystem, integrating maintenance program content with engineering models, configuration management systems, and operator-facing digital tools to enable efficient program delivery and lifecycle management.
  • Establish and continuously improve processes, tools, and standards for how maintenance programs are developed, structured, controlled, and delivered — with a focus on scalability, digital enablement, and cross-program consistency.

Design Influence & Maintainability

  • Collaborate with Design Engineering during early design phases to define maintainability requirements, influence design decisions, and ensure the aircraft is optimized for inspection access, component removal, and scheduled maintenance execution.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Serve as a primary interface with the FAA, EASA, and other civil aviation authorities for maintenance program certification, airworthiness limitation approval, and continued airworthiness compliance.
  • Ensure all maintenance program documentation complies with applicable regulations including 14 CFR Part 25, AC 25-19, AC 121-22, and relevant Advisory Circulars and guidance material.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial aviation maintenance programs, continued airworthiness, or a closely related field.
  • Working knowledge of MSG-3 methodology and the Maintenance Review Board process.
  • Familiarity with FAA and EASA airworthiness regulations and certification requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams or managing direct reports.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience developing or contributing to a maintenance digital thread or model-based maintenance data environment.
  • Familiarity with S1000D, ATA iSpec 2200, or similar aviation technical data standards as they relate to maintenance program content.
  • Experience interfacing directly with the FAA MRB or EASA equivalent during aircraft certification.
  • Background in influencing aircraft design from a maintainability or Design for Maintainability (DFM) perspective.
  • Experience working with airline customers in a maintenance program delivery or technical support capacity.
  • Familiarity with PLM, configuration management, or digital engineering environments (e.g., Teamcenter, ENOVIA, or similar).

Our compensation package is a blend of base salary and equity options for eligible employees. The range for this role is $195,000 - $220,000. We consider a number of factors when presenting a final offer, including geography, internal equity and years of experience and expertise.
