Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Mechanic.  This is a Maintenance Multi-craft position working to ensure minimal down time while demonstrating safe work practices. The job requires that the employee be able to work safely and follow safety rules. Employee must be dependable, able to follow instructions and directions according to established operating procedures.

The right candidate will have a stable track record (work history), great work ethic, and great attitude. Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.

The base hourly rate for Maintenance Mechanic is: $42.33/Hr.

Employee must be able to work 10:00am – 6:30pm Monday – Friday and OT when needed.

What you bring to the Team: 

• Minimum of High School Diploma with technical college certification or Associates degree in technical discipline with 2 or more years of industrial experience in mechanical/electrical repairs -- or- 4 years of strong industrial experience in mechanical/electrical repairs in lieu of a formal education 
• Experience troubleshooting PLC & field devices 
• Experience using multi meters and other electronic test equipment 
• Experience operating various machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders and related equipment to make repairs. 
• Welding, gas cutting, and fabrication experience 
• Experience diagnosing, repairing, and installing power transmission components - Gear boxes, couplings, chains, belts, sprockets and other related components. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Generate, read and work form electrical schematics, sketches or verbal instructions in making assemblies and installations. 
• Proficient in use of current, voltage & resistance meters and other electronic test equipment. Makes electrical measurements and calculations as required. 
• Troubleshoot power and control circuits for plant power distribution and machine control. Document systems in schematic form and install, and start up systems.
• Proficient in reading relay logic diagrams, modifying circuitry in the field or installing new.
• Knowledgeable in microprocessor based controls/PLC's. Troubleshoot control logic.
• Have knowledge of DC and AC drives. Integrate systems that utilizes microprocessor/ PLC's, drives and controls to operate/improve systems operations. 
• Supervise/manage small projects as assigned. Work independently.
• Operate various machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, grinders and related equipment to make repairs. 
• Maintains, adjusts, services and lubricates plant equipment such as production machines, mobile equipment, pumps, valves and other process related equipment. Inspects and determines required repairs. 
• Maintains and makes repairs to plant buildings, facilities, utilities and area systems involving plumbing, carpentry, masonry, pipe fitting and other related crafts. 
• Diagnose, repair and install power transmission components - Gear boxes, couplings, chains, belts, sprockets and other related components. 
• Performs welding and gas cutting as required. 
• Diagnose, repair and install pneumatic and hydraulics systems - cylinders, hoses, pumps and valves. 
• Uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times. Maintains working area neat and orderly. 
• Reports time and documents work orders appropriately to SAP. 
• Utilizes inventory system and assures all parts are removed and returned to inventory as required. 
• Assists in production line changeover and setup. 

Work Environment

The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, and mobile equipment.  The environment is not climate controlled, and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and or cold depending upon the operation and the season. The environment may be dirty from oils/grease and may be noisy from the machinery.  Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment at all times. PPE includes steel-toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection, gloves and high visibility clothing.
