As a Maintenance Specialist, you will:

    • Preferably have previous experience with interior building maintenance and repair.

    • Have the ability to multi-task, safely use power tools and lawn equipment 

    • Complete general landscaping and groundskeeping tasks including mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, weed abatement, irrigation repairs, and maintaining equipment
    • Complete minor to moderate repairs of on/off campus buildings, security systems, and vehicles
    • Possess basic skillsets in maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and landscaping work

    • Perform facility walkthroughs to identify issues
    • Clean and organize storage areas
    • Assist lead facilities specialist with repairs
    • Set up rooms or recreation areas for meetings or special events
    • Submit regular reports to supervisor on work orders and completion status
    • Educate employees on basic maintenance and repairs as assigned

The maintenance and facilities specialist will work on our main campus in Goleta as well as Devereux occupied homes in the general Santa Barbara and Lompoc area. A company vehicle will be provided for transportation between locations.

 

 

Devereux California is a therapeutic behavioral health treatment facility offering residential services, community living, day programs, and clinical services for adults with multiple diagnoses, including autistic spectrum disorders, emotional and/or behavioral differences, intellectual and developmental disabilities, dementia and other cognitive disorders.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be 21 years of age.

  • Must possess current, valid driver's license and maintain clean driving record.

  • Pass a thorough background check and livescan fingerprint.
  • Minimum of (1) year of experience performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair work involving; carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and general trades preferred.

  • One or more years of specialized training preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires significant amounts of standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Often required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Regularly requires lifting/moving weight of up to 25lbs, frequently lift/move up to 50lbs and occasionally lift/move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust to focus.

 

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE: Regularly works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Occasionally works

near moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate.
