About this role

Overview

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, a national law firm with offices in all 50 states, has an immediate opening in its Madison office for an experienced litigation attorney to join our growing practice. This is a unique opportunity for a lawyer who wants to do meaningful work in a flexible, collaborative, and expanding office backed by the full resources of a major national firm.

Our Madison office was opened to build something lasting in Wisconsin: a strong, client-focused platform for litigation and employment work, supported by deep national infrastructure but led locally with real autonomy and opportunity. We are looking for someone who wants more than a routine lateral move — someone who wants to help shape an office, develop client relationships, and grow with the team.

This role is hybrid, and we are flexible. We value in-person connection and believe that building a strong office culture matters, especially in a growing market. At the same time, we understand that talented lawyers need flexibility, and we support a modern approach to work.

About the opportunity: The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of litigation experience and an interest in one or more of the following areas:

  • Employment litigation, including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour, restrictive covenant, and wrongful termination matters.
  • Commercial litigation, including contract disputes, business torts, and pretrial motion practice.
  • Professional liability defense and related complex civil matters.

Candidates should expect to handle a meaningful and varied docket, including drafting pleadings and motions, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, appearing at hearings, participating in mediations, and working directly with clients from day one. Depending on experience, the attorney may also have opportunities to support case strategy, supervise junior lawyers, and contribute to business development efforts.

We are especially interested in lawyers who want to build a practice in Madison and contribute to the long-term growth of the office.

What we offer:  GRSM is a full-service Am Law 100 firm with robust national and local practices and the first and only law firm with attorneys and offices in all 50 states. Our lawyers benefit from:

  • A national platform with substantial resources and support.
  • Training, mentorship, and professional development across offices and practice groups.
  • Direct access to sophisticated matters and forward-facing client work.
  • A collaborative, collegial culture that values initiative and accountability.
  • Opportunity to grow with a developing office and take on increasing responsibility.
  • An industry-leading low-overhead platform with no debt.
  • Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including eligibility for discretionary and performance-based bonuses and student loan repayment assistance.

We have also been nationally recognized for our commitment to the recruitment, retention, and advancement of qualified female and diverse attorneys. We are committed to building a workplace where talented lawyers can thrive and advance.

About Madison and the office:  Our Madison office is part of a broader strategic investment in Wisconsin. We opened here because we believe there is a real need for a strong national litigation platform in the market — one that combines sophisticated legal work with local commitment, excellent client service, and room to grow.

The office is led by Stephanie Jones, Chief Operating Partner of the firm nationwide, who relocated to Madison with her husband, who is in college athletics at UW-Madison. That connection to the community reflects what this office is all about: investing in Madison for the long term and building something meaningful here. A new hire will not be a small cog in a large machine; they will have the opportunity to help shape the office, build their own practice, and contribute to a team that is growing intentionally.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of litigation experience.
  • Wisconsin bar admission required.
  • Strong writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and client counseling.
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Interest in helping grow a local office within a national firm platform.

To apply: Please submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample for consideration.
