Overview

 

The Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) seeks a Manufacturing Trainer responsible for delivering high-quality training programs that support the needs of our manufacturing members. This includes programs that drive our members’ overall performance and growth. The programs will include essential manufacturing topics that are standard within industrial settings with a focus on lean, quality, project management, leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, supervisory development, and sales/business development. The trainer works with a diverse group of manufacturers and business leaders and comfortably adapts training to different organizational cultures, workforce levels, and business needs

 

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. They will work in partnership with the Director and Chief Leadership Officer to deliver training and coaching services for our members.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Training Team with facilitating a wide variety of training programs focused on lean, quality, project management, leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, supervisory development, and sales/business development.
  • Develop facilitator guides, participant materials, presentations, activities, and other learning resources.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on participant feedback and organizational needs.
  • Work directly with manufacturing companies to understand workforce and leadership-development challenges.
  • Help identify training needs and recommend appropriate learning solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with clients through professional, consultative interactions.
  • Conducts onsite observations, interviews, or needs assessments when appropriate.
  • Represent the organization at workforce-development events, industry meetings, and other professional activities.
  • Leverage manufacturing experience to make training practical, relevant, and applicable to the workplace.
  • Understand the unique challenges facing today's manufacturing workforce, including employee engagement, retention, skills development, generational differences, communication, and the development of frontline leaders.
  • Stay current on manufacturing workforce trends, leadership practices, and training methodologies.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong manufacturing experience, 3-5 years preferred, combined with a passion for developing people.
  • Exceptional & demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage in diverse audiences.
  • Project program management skills, delivering effective employee engagement and positive motivational change.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Professional Business acumen and the ability to contribute to program growth.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and self-awareness executing effective training results.
  • Strong organizational, communication (verbal/Written, listening) skills which drive solid decision and problem-solving ability.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience leading teams, supervising employees, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, or developing employees in a manufacturing environment is highly valued.
  • Experience as a supervisor, manager, team leader, or operations leader desired.
  • Experience developing or delivering leadership or supervisory training.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or related methodologies.
  • Manufacturing experience including machining, basic electrical and basic engineering would be highly valued.
  • Training or facilitation certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods communicating in groups and using a computer.
  • Valid driver’s license and the Ability to travel as needed. Could be up to 50% travel within Upstate New York.
  • Must pass background checks
