Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Under general or minimal supervision, the Machinist fabricates parts for production units by blueprint specifications utilizing a variety of hand and major machine tools such as; a drill press, a grinder, deburring equipment, and manual and CNC lathe and mills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manor
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Possess a positive attitude towards all employees and create positive working relationships
- Demonstrate proper use of all safety equipment through everyday use and practice
- Perform material handling duties (part identification and handling, basic rigging)
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools related to Machinist responsibilities
- Perform duties as assigned by lead or supervisor
- Attend all required team and company meetings
- Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area through continuous 7S efforts
- Read and understand basic drawings and schematics
- Under direct supervision, perform basic part preparation and machining activities
- Ability to work independently with supervision (self-starter/self-motivated)
- Assist higher-level Machinist in the machining and fabrication process
- Provide input on quality, cost, and production issues
- Assist in the detection of defective material by inspecting incoming parts or stock for use in fabricating parts documenting unusual conditions, and report to supervisor
- Comprehension of basic machining, tools, and fabrication tasks utilizing common shop standard practices
- Develop a basic understanding of lean principals
- Cleans, deburrs, and finishes parts to meet shop standards
- With mentor, fabricates new and replacement parts for production units utilizing shop machines such as; lathes, mills, grinders and drills
- Maintains equipment in safe operating order by performing repairs on minor machine malfunctions and communicates issues to the respective supervisor
- Develop a basic understanding of CNC programming
- Perform machinist tasks utilizing common machining practices
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent. Military, trade school or community college coursework in hydraulic-mechanical assembly, repair, and troubleshooting desired.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a high level of physical flexibility, strength, and stamina, including the ability to: see and assess drawings, photos, and written instructions; audibly hear verbal instructions and mechanical signals (forklifts, cranes, machine alarms, etc.); and speak, read, write, and communicate effectively.
To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, an individual must be willing and able to
- have full range of body movement: head, neck, shoulders; lift arms overhead; work overhead; reach, lift, push/pull, walk, climb, kneel, bend; good dexterity and range of movement in fingers, hands and wrists.

- stand on feet for at least three hours.
- repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
- maintain confidence and balance while working on ladders up to 12 feet tall.
