About this role

Loan Processor, Small Business Funding

Rail Capital Full time. Utah based (Salt Lake City, Provo, or anywhere along the Wasatch Front). Reports to the Managing Director.

About Rail Capital

Rail Capital provides working capital to small businesses through merchant cash advances. Our underwriting is fast, data driven, and grounded in bank statement cash flow rather than collateral. We are building a modern credit operation with automation at the center, and we need a processor who has moved high volumes of small business files from application to funding and wants to help design how it is done here.

The role

You will own every file from submission to funded. You will collect and verify documents, clear conditions, prepare contracts, run the final checks, and release funds. The underwriter decides the credit. You make sure the file is complete, true, and funded the same day whenever possible.

This is a hands on seat. You will work files every day and you will be measured on speed to fund, accuracy, and how few files come back with a problem.

What you will do

  • Intake new submissions from brokers and direct merchants: check the application, bank statements, and identification for completeness and chase what is missing.

  • Package files for underwriting so the underwriter never waits on a document.

  • Clear conditions to fund: voided check, proof of ownership, driver license, landlord or mortgage verification, tax returns, payoff letters, and any stipulation the underwriter sets.

  • Verify what you are given: bank login verification, business entity and good standing checks, ownership match, OFAC screening, and identity checks.

  • Spot altered statements, mismatched ownership, and other fraud signals and escalate before contracts go out.

  • Prepare and send contracts for signature, review executed documents for errors, and correct them fast.

  • Run the funding call with the merchant and confirm terms, payment amount, and payment schedule.

  • File UCC financing statements and set up the payment schedule with the servicer or payment processor.

  • Release the wire and confirm receipt. Send broker and merchant funding confirmations.

  • Keep the system of record current on every file: status, conditions, notes, and documents.

  • Coordinate payoffs and balance letters on renewals and consolidations.

  • Work with the product and engineering team to automate the repeatable parts of the workflow.

What we are looking for

Required

  • Two to four years processing, closing, or funding small business loans, lines of credit, or merchant cash advances at a lender.

  • Experience at Bluevine, OnDeck, or a comparable online small business lender is strongly preferred. We want someone who has worked a high volume queue with same day funding targets.

  • Comfortable reading business bank statements well enough to spot what does not match the application.

  • Working knowledge of business entity documents, UCC filings, and know your customer and know your business checks.

  • Extreme attention to detail. A wrong account number or a missed signature is a real loss.

  • Clear, quick communication with brokers and merchants by phone and email. You will push people for documents all day and stay pleasant doing it.

  • Organized under volume. You can run thirty open files without losing one.

Nice to have

  • Experience with electronic signature tools, Salesforce or a similar system of record, and bank verification tools.

  • Experience on the broker facing side: submissions, offers, and commission questions.

  • Exposure to collections or servicing, so you understand what happens after funding.

  • Interest in growing into underwriting.

How we work

  • Small team, direct access to the Managing Director, decisions made quickly.

  • We automate aggressively and expect the processor to help decide what gets automated.

Location

  • Must be based in Utah. Salt Lake City, Provo, Orem, Lehi, Draper, or anywhere along the Wasatch Front. Remote day to day with regular in person time.
