About this role

About the job: 

Kent is looking for a Lead Project Engineer to be based at our client site in Corpus Christi, TX supporting an O&G integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) project. 

 

You will be responsible for governing all technical, schedule, and contractual interfaces between engineering disciplines, EPC contractors, vendors, construction teams, and the client ensuring seamless integration of automation systems (ICSS, SIS, FGS, PLCs, SCADA) across the project lifecycle.

 

Skills and Responsibilities:    

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the Interface Management Plan (IMP) covering automation system boundaries, responsibilities, communication protocols, and escalation paths.
  • Establish and manage the Interface Register / Interface Matrix for all automation-related interfaces (ICSS–SIS, SIS–FGS, PLC–package skids, SCADA–RTUs, telecom–control systems).
  • Define interface deliverables, dependencies, and verification requirements across EPC, OEMs, integrators, and operations teams.
  • Track interface dependencies affecting automation system readiness, FAT/SAT schedules, and commissioning milestones. 
  • Act as the central point of contact for all interface queries, clarifications, and conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate interface workshops and multi-discipline reviews (automation, mechanical, electrical, process, instrumentation).
  • Ensure interface readiness for cable routing, marshalling cabinets, junction boxes, Network infrastructure, control room integration, Hot cutovers and brownfield tie-ins.
  • Support site walk-downs, interface verification, and pre-commissioning/commissioning activities.
  • Provide weekly/bi-weekly interface status reports to project management.
  • Ensure compliance with project quality, HSE, regulatory, and classification requirements.

 

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

 

 
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:   

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience in Oil & Gas EPC/EPCM projects, with significant exposure to automation/control systems.
  • Proven experience managing interfaces across End users, EPC contractors, multiple control system vendors, and suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle (FEED → Detailed Engineering → FAT/SAT → Commissioning → Start-up).

 

 

Communication:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
 

Behavior/ Core Competencies:

  • Familiarity with interface management tools (registers, dashboards) and project management platforms (Primavera, MS Project),
  • Experience with an operating company, systems vendor, or engineering services provider for the onshore or offshore oil & gas and/or energy industry is preferred.
