About this role

About us

The Electrical Power Systems group is a global and multidisciplinary team responsible for developing lithium-ion battery management systems. Dyson battery management systems provide the high-power energy sources required to power all Dyson product categories. As part of this group, we are looking to expand our Power Electronics capability in SEA

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Power Electronics Engineer to drive the development of battery management systems.

  • Lead the development and integration of battery management systems (BMS), inverters, switched-mode power supplies (SMPS), charging and protection circuits, and power-conversion solutions that meet global product and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead detailed circuit design, simulation, component selection, schematic and PCB layout reviews, tolerance analysis, thermal assessment, design verification, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, battery, manufacturing, quality, safety, test, and compliance teams to deliver robust, reliable, manufacturable, and launch-ready designs.
  • Provide technical leadership for power electronics and BMS development across major projects, subsystems, platforms, or product categories.
  • Define the technical approach, architecture, interfaces, risk-management plan, validation strategy, and design-review process, and steer production-intent delivery for the assigned scope.
  • Lead technical reviews and communicate complex engineering topics, progress, options, risks, and recommendations clearly to engineers, project leaders, and senior stakeholders.
  • Drive the adoption of improved tools, methods, standards, reusable platforms, and best practices for simulation, verification, validation, and design documentation across projects and teams.
  • Develop engineers through coaching, mentoring, delegation, and technical reviews while strengthening engineering discipline and knowledge sharing

About you

Working at the forefront of technology is challenging, so standards and expectations are high. You’ll be contributing to live projects from the start, so you’ll need to be curious, hungry to learn and ready to get stuck in. But it’s not just about technical expertise. You’ll need to:

  • Hold a degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Power Electronics, or a comparable discipline, with substantial industrial product-development experience.
  • Have typically 6 or more years of industry experience in power electronics, battery management systems, or comparable complex hardware development environments.
  • Demonstrate strong and broad technical capability in BMS and secondary battery technologies, including sensing, cell monitoring, protection, gate driver control, thermal considerations, and system integration.
  • Proven ability to lead circuit and system design, architecture definition, simulation, schematic review, PCB layout review, component selection, tolerance stacks, derating, validation strategy, failure analysis, EMC/EMI mitigation, and design for manufacturability.
  • Solid understanding of basic principles of semiconductor devices such as MOSFET, BJT and diode.
  • Proficient in circuit simulation (i.e: SiMetrix, SPICE or Matlab), analysis, test-method development, laboratory validation, and the use of relevant electronic test equipment.
  • Apply strong knowledge of global safety, reliability, EMC/EMI, thermal, regulatory, quality, and manufacturing requirements, with experience applying them to production-intent designs.
  • Able to independently solve complex design problems, assess technical risk, document evidence, and communicate recommendations to multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders.
  • Experience in applying AI-enabled tools or AI-augmented engineering workflows for hardware design, verification, validation, documentation, test automation, or test environment optimization is a plus.
  • Experience in technical reviews, supplier discussions, design verification, compliance activities, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Experience in mentoring engineers and influence engineering practice.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Above all, you’ll want to play a key part in bringing the next generation of Dyson technology to the world.
