Job Description

We are looking for Lead DevOps Engineer to join Sopra Steria Polska and one of our innovative international squads.

As a Development Expert with a focus on Cloud Engineering, you design, build and operate highly available, secure cloud services as part of an integrated DevSecOps delivery team.

As part of a multi-year transformation program, our team is modernizing central, business-critical applications and operating them on a cloud-based, containerised microservice architecture within an Azure Landing Zone. Delivery follows an agile (Scrum) near model in close coordination with the client. The environment combines a modern Azure-based cloud and DevSecOps tech stack with the high standards of IT security, availability and regulatory compliance that apply to a central bank, offering broad exposure to complex distributed systems and the full software development life cycle in a DevSecOps context, including operations and monitoring, with a focus on portability and avoidance of vendor lock-in.

Note that we can only offer cooperation to people who are located in Poland and have EU citizenship.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and operate cloud-based microservices for highly available, business-critical applications
  • Build and maintain containerised solutions on Kubernetes, in particular Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), OpenShift and Docker
  • Design, implement and operate automated CI/CD pipelines using DevSecOps tools
  • Apply “secure by design” principles, IT security and identity and access management (IAM) (incl. OAuth2 / OIDC flows)
  • Develop and integrate APIs (REST / SOAP) including API management
  • Integrate relational and non-relational databases as well as cloud storage and data-provision services
  • Analyse and optimise application and infrastructure performance (availability, redundancy, scalability)
  • Contribute to monitoring, observability and operational stability of applications within the DevSecOps team
  • Collaborate within an agile (Scrum) team across the full SDLC, in close coordination with the client

Tech stack on the project:

  • Cloud: Microsoft Azure (incl. Azure Landing Zone, public / private / hybrid)
  • Containers & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift (incl. AKS)

  • Version control: Git, SVN
  • APIs & security: REST, SOAP, API management, OAuth2 / OIDC
  • Databases: SQL / PL-SQL / T-SQL, MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle; Redis, Cassandra
  • Storage: Azure Blob Storage, WebDAV
  • Operating systems: Windows, Linux

Qualifications

Must have requirements:

  • Hands-on use of established technologies in software development such as Windows, Linux, Docker, SQL databases, cloud platforms, synchronous APIs, storage solutions, and others

  • Experience with microservice architectures as well as containerization and container orchestration technologies
  • Very good knowledge of version control using SVN, Git, or comparable tools
  • Extensive practical experience in working with Kubernetes, Docker, AKS, OpenShift, or comparable container platforms
  • Consideration of IT security measures and access security (“secure by design”) including IAM
  • Knowledge of implementing OAuth2 / OIDC security flows
  • Very good knowledge in the use of SOAP or RESTful web services, including API management
  • Practical experience in the development of highly available systems and solid understanding of the associated concepts (e.g., redundancy)
  • Practical experience in projects involving cloud technologies (public/private/hybrid), particularly in Azure environments
  • EU citizenship
  • Fluent English: B2/C1.
  • Fluent German: B2/C1.

  • Very good knowledge of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
  • Practical experience in the design, setup, and operation of automated CI/CD pipelines as well as in working with DevSecOps tools
