About this role

Be the Connection who walks alongside Tamariki

Some roles support people. This one connects them to find their way back.

As a Kaitūhono at Kaikaranga, you will work alongside tamariki aged under 12 who have been stood down or excluded from school, and the whānau behind them. This is wraparound, relational mahi in a brand-new service, with the space, and the support to do it properly.

What you will be doing

  • Building trusted relationships with tamariki, whānau, and the schools and services around them
  • Navigating across education, health, and disability to find what each child needs
  • Advocating for tamariki in spaces that haven't always made room for them
  • Contributing to a learning-focused service that's designed to change things at scale

What you will bring

  • Experience working with tamariki and whānau in education, health, or community services. Our ideal is experience in education and disability combined
  • The ability to build trust quickly across diverse communities
  • Knowledge of the school system and how to navigate it alongside families
  • A genuine commitment to equity and to doing things differently

What you will get

  • A supportive, diverse team and flexible working
  • Ongoing learning and development, EAP and staff benefits
  • A workplace that welcomes, supports and thrives on difference

We warmly welcome applications from Māori, Pasifika, and people with lived experience of disability in the education system.

We are proud to be a diverse, equal opportunity employer. We believe our workforce should reflect the communities we serve.
