About this role

Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Systems Engineer within our AFLCMC/C3I group (formerly HBM).

 

The C2ISR Division is responsible for a diverse portfolio that provides "cradle-to grave" support for the U-2 aircraft, E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) aircraft, Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (AF DCGS), the Integrated Broadcast Service (IBS) system and other C2ISR programs as they transition to sustainment. The C2ISR Division provides worldwide life cycle support across the spectrum of the C2ISR capabilities based enterprise; including supply, distribution, materiel management, acquisition, system engineering and maintenance, financial planning and budgeting, security, flight test, and contracting functions. The Global Network Systems (GNS) Branch (AFLCMC/ HBGW), located at Hanscom AFB, MA, is one of the numerous branches within the C2ISR Division and reports directly to the C2ISR/HBG Senior Materiel Leader. EPASS support is required to execute the major GNS programs in support of the C2ISR Division, to include: AF DCGS Network Infrastructure Transformation (NIT), Extended Tether Program (ETP), and Global Command and Control System – Air Force Infrastructure (GCCS-AF (I)).

 

The candidate will provide Systems Engineering assistance that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of system engineering to the acquisition process. The candidate will also provide engineering support in the design, operation, and sustainment of systems and components that cover tasks throughout the acquisition life cycle (requirements analysis through system disposal).

 

This is a full time position located at Hanscom Air Force Base, MA

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will provide systems engineering support across the acquisition lifecycle, supporting requirements development, architecture design, systems integration, verification and validation, technical management, and digital engineering efforts. The successful candidate will work closely with government and contractor teams to ensure systems meet operational requirements while supporting modernization initiatives across complex command and control environments.

 

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Provide systems engineering support throughout the acquisition lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, sustainment, and operations.
  • Conduct systems engineering reviews, technical assessments, and trade studies to evaluate system performance, cost, schedule, risk, and technical effectiveness.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and management of system requirements, technical baselines, architectures, and interface documentation.
  • Translate operational and user requirements into system and subsystem requirements using approved DoD and Air Force acquisition processes.
  • Support architecture development and analysis, including traditional systems engineering methodologies, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and digital engineering approaches.
  • Assist with planning and execution of technical reviews, including System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Technology Readiness Assessments (TRA), and related engineering activities.
  • Support risk management, configuration management, technical data management, requirements management, and interface management activities.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation including Systems Engineering Plans (SEP), Risk Management Plans, Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), technical reports, and acquisition artifacts.
  • Conduct engineering analyses supporting system interoperability, cloud deployment, virtualization, network architectures, and system integration efforts.
  • Support proposal evaluations, market research, and technical assessments of contractor solutions.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and provide technical recommendations to government leadership.
  • Support engineering activities related to logistics, sustainment, reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle support planning.

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a Top Secret level clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications

Education: BA/BS Degree in related discipline

Years of experience: 3 years of professional experience preferably in a DoD arena

  • Experienced in requirements development, production and deployment, and operation and support, architectures development & implementation, modeling & simulation including but not limited to Model Based Systems Engineering principles, verification & validation, technical data package development and sustainment, and principles of configuration management
  • Experience with network architectures, embedded systems and application deployment across a variety of systems and hardware, to include cloud deployment and virtualization
  • Familiarity with DoD Acquisition processes including Technology Maturation, Risk Reduction, Engineering Manufacturing and Development, Production and Deployment activities
  • Familiarity with Electronic Warfare and/or Air Combat operations including live aircrew training/development of tactics, techniques, and procedures and Range Infrastructure architectures and systems are desired
  • Familiarity with foreign ground radar
