Junior Legal Counsel

Picnic is growing rapidly, and with massive scale comes broader, faster, and more complex international challenges. We are looking for an energetic and hands-on Junior Legal Counsel to step into the beating heart of our day-to-day legal operations in the Netherlands. You won’t be tucked away in a corner reviewing endless contracts - you’ll get a 360-degree view of Picnic, working on everything from new commercial initiatives, ‘out of the box’ projects and ad hoc legal questions to a steady stream of commercial contracting ⚖️📝🛒 You’ll join a low-ego, high-energy legal team where your opinion matters from day one. Tricks of the trade

• First point of contact: Act as the go-to legal contact for teams across the business (from Customer Success to Commercial and Operations). You’ll cut through the noise, give clear answers, and keep the business moving
• Project co-pilot: Get stuck into new company-wide initiatives and projects from the start. You’ll spot legal angles before anyone else does & coordinate the legal bits & pieces
• Commercial contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements. You’ll protect Picnic while keeping our entrepreneurial spirit alive
• Regulatory navigation: Stay ahead of the curve on consumer law, e-commerce regulations, and other laws relevant to a fast-scaling online supermarket
• Team player attitude: Roll up your sleeves and assist the team whenever needed, to tackle peaks in workload and ensure team success

Your superpowers

• A completed Master’s degree (MSc/LL.M.) in Dutch Law
• 2 - 4 years of relevant professional experience as a legal counsel or lawyer, preferably with in-house experience
• Pragmatic & commercial mindset: You don’t just solve legal questions; you find business-oriented solutions. You can quickly connect the dots and balance between legal risks and commercial goals
• Proactive ownership: You don’t wait for tasks to land on your desk. You ask "What’s next?", anticipate bottlenecks, and drive matters to the finish line
• Results-driven: You are an owner who doesn’t just pass things along - you see every legal matter through from start to finish 
• Process & tech enthusiast: You love making things run smoother. You're keen to optimize processes and eager to leverage legal AI to work smarter
• Collaborative spirit: You are able to work independently as well as with other legal counsels and business teams
• Strong communicator: You are sharp, clear, and would much rather pick up the phone or walk over to a colleague’s desk than send a message
• Language skills: You are fluent in English and Dutch
