Junior Accountant

Job Summary

We are looking for a Junior Accountant to join our team and ensure the finance department continues to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality financial support. Strengthen the finance capacity and ensure compliance with financial policies and reporting deadlines.

Your duties will include preparation of financial statements and reports. We expect you to be well aware of accounting principles and the accounting cycle.

Key Responsibilities

Capture supplier invoices, customer invoices and general ledger transactions accurately and on time.

Reconcile supplier statement and resolve invoice discrepancies with vendors.

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding items.

Prepare bank, supplier and general-ledger reconciliations.

Assist with the month-end close, including journals, accruals and supporting schedules.

Maintain the fixed-asset register and process depreciation.

Help prepare monthly management-account packs and supporting documentation.

Assist with VAT and PAYE preparation and SARS e-Filing submissions.

Support petty cash, expense claims and employee reimbursements.

File and maintain accurate financial records for audit and compliance purposes.

Provide general support to the finance team and assist with ad-hoc tasks and projects.

Minimum Requirements

Education

A completed BCom / diploma in Accounting or Finance.

Experience

1–2 years' relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience.

A basic understanding of accounting principles and the accounting cycle.

Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Pastel, Xero or QuickBooks) is an advantage.

Competent in Microsoft Excel (formulas, sorting, basic pivot tables).

Work Conditions

Office-based role.

Schedule

Full-time (40 hours per week).

Availability required Monday through Friday.

Shifts are scheduled from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM SAST.
