The role:

This CEO & Director role at Daimler Truck Australia Pacific (DTAuP) is a rare and exceptional opportunity to lead and shape the future of our two historic and enduring brands, leading our Australian operation into the future with a long-term strategic vision and an ambition for shared success. With the backing of a strong local Executive Committee and the stewardship of our global headquarters and regional lead of ISEAA, this role is responsible for leading distributor operations and parts sales for Australia, across both Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Freightliner. Responsible for functions across Sales, Marketing, Product, Service/Technical, Operations, SelecTrucks, Network, Training Academy, Finance, IT, HR and Legal this transformational CEO & Director role will epitomise Daimler Truck values, foster a corporate culture that’s second to none and ensure an efficient and economically sound organisation, optimising and driving our future success with innovation and integrity front of mind.

Reporting into Region ISEAA MB Trucks & DICV, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, lead, drive and preserve the public image of the Daimler Truck Australia brands and the overall satisfaction of our customers
  • Full P&L responsibility for DTAuP 
  • Responsible for the importation and sale of vehicles, parts and related goods and services from core regions around the world 

  • Develop, define and innovate strategies to optimise short and long-term sales market and profit potentials, responsible for overall strategic direction of DTAuP planning to deliver and achieve company sales and market share goals across new and used vehicles as well as parts sales, while complying with planned financial parameters and contribution targets

  • Overall responsibility for fleet, sales operations, used vehicles, logistics and vehicle processing 

  • Drive the strategic direction and alignment with subsidiary entity Daimler Truck Financial Services to ensure optimal commercial vehicle sales results 

  • Define, lead and drive consistent and efficient support for retail partners with sales incentive and reward programs that drive business development, in cooperation with the CFO

  • Define, develop and lead strategic insight into Daimler Truck initiatives and future technology to external customers, dealers, fleets and corporate partners

  • Overall responsibility in defining the strategic direction for DTAuP’s warehouse, parts and logistics processes

  • Overall responsibility for innovating and defining service and parts network standards with Retail Network Development

  • Corporate brand Marketing and Communications responsibility, including representation at PR and corporate DTAuP Marketing activities including sponsorship, events, corporate social responsibility and employee engagement events

  • Overall responsibility across Regulatory Affairs, Government & Emerging Mobility

  • Appointed as DTAuP Director, responsible for overseeing the affairs of the company and complying with legal obligations as a Director under the Australian Corporations Act 2001.

  • Lead the Executive Committee, actively involved in the strategic decision-making to steer the future direction and active running of the company

  • Actively involved in projects and tasks directed by regional and global HQ

  • Responsible for signing/co-signing of target agreement for relevant KPI with the CFO, Head of Region and the concerned HQ departments

  • Provide leadership support, coaching and guidance to direct employees ensuring their performance and development, while supporting the appointment of new employees and promotion of talent within the organisation

  • Innovate, drive and lead the DTAuP team with integrity and respect, fostering a corporate culture according to the Daimler Truck corporate values, compliance, diversity standards with equal opportunities in mind

About You:

The successful candidate will be of the highest calibre, bringing a proven record of executive leadership and a sophisticated understanding of the commercial vehicle market. An inspirational leader with powerful communication, decision-making and facilitation skills at a top executive level, you will be a cultural champion and advocate, driving Daimler Truck standards and expectations. Your ability to inspire passion and collaborate within diverse teams, as well as lead, influence and give a voice to your Executive Committee as well as each team member will see you as a visionary leader, confidently navigating market changes, managing risk and unifying stakeholders.

Being a part of a global organisation, you will have well developed inter-cultural skills, be fluent in spoken and written English and be able to dissect and anticipate local and global market changes. Your ability to negotiate, influence and lead internal stakeholders through difficult discussions and conflicting interests will lead DTAuP into the future with confidence.

Extensive experience as a CEO, MD or management in a top-level executive leadership role, managing complex teams across different business units is essential.

A degree or postgraduate qualification in Business, Commerce, or a related discipline is preferred, as is a CPA, MBA, master's degree, management training, or similar professional qualification. Experience working within complex multi-dimensional business models, commercial vehicle business planning experience is highly desirable. Candidates should also have the ability to build, innovate and drive company strategies that link the organization’s vision and sets key business priorities from the top-down.

This is a Daimler Truck Executive Level position. It is a local, permanent role. If you are not an Australian Citizen, a permanent working visa for Australia / New Zealand will be needed.
