About this role

The IT Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the procurement, vendor management, contract administration, and lifecycle management of technology-related products and services. This role partners closely with Information Technology, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to ensure the organization acquires high-quality technology solutions in a cost-effective, compliant, and strategic manner. The IT Procurement Manager will oversee vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, manage software licensing, and support technology initiatives that advance organizational objectives.

Position is on site.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Develops sourcing strategies, negotiates favorable commercial terms, manages technology supplier relationships, and ensures compliance with procurement policies while maximizing value and minimizing risk.

  • Partners with IT leadership to understand business and technology roadmaps and proactively plan sourcing activities.

  • Leads procurement activities for IT hardware, software, SaaS solutions, cloud services, telecommunications, and technology-related professional services.

  • Works with information technology and vendors to evaluate and develop procurement strategies to help maximize efficiency, improve service, and minimize cost.

  • Identifies cost optimization opportunities related to software licensing, hardware procurement, maintenance agreements, and cloud consumption through market research, benchmarking, supplier evaluations, etc.

  • Monitors, reviews, and analyzes bids and quotes from suppliers.

  • Manages relationships with strategic software vendors and service providers.

  • Conducts annual vendor performance reviews.

  • Partners with procurement leadership and finance to analyze spending patterns and develop strategies to improve vendor consolidation and purchasing efficiency.

  • Leads negotiations for technology contracts, including pricing, licensing, service level agreements (SLAs), support terms, renewals, data security provisions, and contract risk mitigation.

  • Collaborates with Legal, Compliance, Information Security, and IT stakeholders to review and finalize contractual agreements.

  • Monitors contract expiration dates and renewal opportunities to maximize leverage and avoid unnecessary expenditures.

  • Assists the IT team in evaluating licensing models and enterprise agreements.

  • Supports IT asset management and licensing compliance activities as needed.

  • Ensures procurement practices align with asset management lifecycle requirements.

  • Ensures compliance with organizational procurement policies and procedures.

  • Maintains documentation supporting procurement decisions and contract approvals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of IT hardware, software, SaaS, cloud services, cybersecurity, and telecommunications procurement.

  • Knowledge of software licensing models and enterprise agreements.

  • Ability to negotiate complex purchases and contractual agreements.

  • Understanding of vendor risk management and contract governance principles.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, including the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across organizational functions.

  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with procurement systems, ERP platforms, and contract management tools.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Minimum 7 years of procurement, sourcing, contract negotiation, vendor management, or related experience required.

  • Minimum 5 years managing technology procurement, software licensing, or IT vendor relationships required.

  • Demonstrated experience negotiating complex technology contracts and enterprise agreements required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), supply chain management, or related field preferred.

  • Experience negotiating agreements with major technology providers such as Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Cisco, Dell, AWS, Google, or similar organizations preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks.  Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
