The opportunity: 


Hitachi Energy uses a very high-end system for its control, protection and monitoring. This system is called as MACH. This computerized system is built with the state-of-the-art electronics, microprocessors and digital signal processors, connected by high performance industry standard busses and fiber optic communication links. They operate on very high standard application software designed by the control design team for which there is a need for experienced control system engineers. The system being continuously evolving, becoming more complex and customized, great deal of test & verification are required.  


How you’ll make an impact:


We are seeking a highly motivated Computer Science Engineering graduate to join the IT team supporting Manufacturing, Factory Systems, and IT/OT environments. The role will be responsible for managing, supporting, and enhancing business applications, manufacturing systems, and digital solutions that enable factory operations, industrial automation, and operational excellence.

 

Technical Skills

Application Management

  • Experience supporting enterprise applications and business-critical systems.
  • Knowledge of application lifecycle management, change management, and release management.
  • Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent.

Manufacturing & Factory Systems

  • Understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Exposure to factory applications such as:
    • Production Management Systems
    • Quality Management Systems
    • Warehouse Management Systems
    • Traceability Solutions
    • Digital Factory Platforms
  • Understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts and Smart Manufacturing technologies.

IT/OT Integration

  • Basic understanding of Operational Technology (OT) environments.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Industrial Networks
    • PLC/SCADA Systems
    • Historian Systems
    • Industrial IoT Solutions
    • OPC-UA and industrial communication protocols
  • Ability to work with automation and engineering teams on IT/OT integration projects.

Database & Reporting

  • Knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar databases.
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, and dashboarding tools.
  • Knowledge of Power BI desirable.

Software & Automation

  • Basic programming or scripting skills in:
    • Python
    • C#
    • Java
    • PowerShell
  • Experience in API integration and application troubleshooting.

 

Cybersecurity Awareness

  • Basic understanding of:
    • Cybersecurity principles
    • User access management
    • Application security
    • OT security concepts
    • Backup and recovery processes

  • Support and maintain factory and engineering applications.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to gather business requirements.
  • Manage application upgrades, patches, and system enhancements.
  • Lead or support digitalization and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Ensure high system availability and user satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with vendors and global application support teams.
  • Support IT/OT integration projects across manufacturing facilities.
  • Maintain system documentation, governance, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation opportunities within factory operations.

Your background:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3-8 years of relevant experience in IT Applications, Manufacturing IT, Digitalization, or Industrial Systems (adjust based on position level).
