Position Overview

The IRB Protocol Analyst supports the review and oversight of human subjects research to ensure compliance with federal regulations, state laws, institutional policies, and sponsor requirements. This role partners with investigators, research teams, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) members to facilitate efficient protocol review, regulatory compliance, and timely study approvals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze human research submissions of limited scope and complexity.
  • Apply federal regulations, state laws, and institutional policies to support compliant research activities.
  • Provide guidance to investigators and research teams throughout the IRB review process.
  • Document regulatory findings, IRB deliberations, and board actions.
  • Coordinate IRB activities and collaborate with ancillary review committees and institutional partners.
  • Assist researchers in obtaining timely IRB approvals and maintaining ongoing compliance.
  • Prepare regulatory documents, inter-institutional agreements, and materials for institutional signature.
  • Track review timelines and approval deadlines to prevent delays and lapses in compliance.
  • Maintain high-quality standards for regulatory review and documentation.
  • Support customer service initiatives and respond to investigator inquiries.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects and educational program development.
  • Assist with training and outreach for research teams and IRB members.
  • Manage communications and documentation within the electronic IRB submission system.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Problem-solving experience.
  • Ability to work in a regulatory and deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to work almost exclusively on a computer using regulatory application software.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge and/or experience with research methods, IRB operations, regulations and policies governing the protection of human subjects in research.

Salary

The pay range for this job profile is $21.35 - $27.88 per hour. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on multiple factors including internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.

Work Location

Employees are provided several flexible work schedule and location options aligned with U.S. Eastern Time Zone including an option for remote. All employees are provided university-configured equipment and supportive technology tools. Employees are required to provide reliable internet access and home office furnishings for approved remote work locations.

This position will start as a hybrid role, working at least 3 days per week in office for the first 6 weeks.
