About this role

As Instrumentation and Control Engineer, you will support the technical delivery of electrical building services packages from design review through to construction, commissioning and handover.

You will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, design teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that electrical works are coordinated, compliant, buildable and delivered to Designer Group’s high standards.

This role will suit someone who is technically curious, organised, eager to learn and comfortable working as part of a busy project delivery team.

You will:

  • Review drawings, specifications and schedules to support compliance with project requirements, standards and industry guidance.
  • Support the review of coordinated construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Assist with RFIs, technical queries and design clarifications.
  • Review specialist supplier packages against project specifications and relevant standards.
  • Prepare, track and manage technical submittals for client approval.
  • Support procurement schedules in conjunction with the procurement team.
  • Use engineering software such as Dialux, Relux, Amtech ProDesign, Navisworks, AutoCAD or similar tools where required.
  • Assist with BCAR inspection requirements and coordinate with the quality team where needed.
  • Support LEED and BREEAM requirements and related technical submittals where applicable.
  • Assist with operation and maintenance manuals and handover documentation.
  • Attend client demonstrations, inspections and commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical support to the wider project team during construction, commissioning and handover.
  • A Level 7 degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Services Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in electrical engineering, electrical project engineering, building services or a similar role.
  • A good understanding of electrical systems from a design, construction or installation perspective.
  • Knowledge of electrical services such as power distribution, lighting, containment, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and general building services.
  • Ability to support project teams with technical queries, design coordination, site issues, submittals, inspections and handover documentation.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A team-focused approach and the ability to work with senior engineers, project managers, design teams, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.

Desirable Experience:

Experience with any of the following would be an advantage, but is not essential:

  • Dialux, Relux, Amtech, Navisworks, AutoCAD or similar engineering software.
  • BCAR, LEED or BREEAM requirements.
  • M&E contracting or building services project delivery.
