General Information

Understand instructions and documentation to plan work activities. Helps coordinate movement of materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site. Completes and reviews records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up activities.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Read loop sheets, P&IDs, and blueprints
  • Work to disassemble and remove instruments and then reinstall
  • Perform tube bending; tube bending in groups; install instrument stands, instrument air headers, instruments, tube tray; screw pipe; deco trace; steam tracking

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of Industrial Construction experience as an Instrument Fitter.
  • Working knowledge P&ID’s
  • Knowledge of tube bending
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be able to provide tools.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual and finger dexterity.
  • Eye-hand coordination.
  • Depth perception.
  • Ability to see things clearly that are beyond arm’s reach. (Far visual acuity)
  • Ability to see small detail.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work at heights above 20 feet. (Aerial lifts)
  • Ability to climb 30-foot ladders without resting.
  • Ability to maintain balance on catwalks and narrow workspaces.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to reach above the head while sitting or standing.
  • Ability to reach below knees while standing.
  • Ability to stoop or kneel.
  • Ability to work at least 60 each week.
  • Ability to work at heights.

  • Ability to follow appropriate safety procedures in order to make safety checks and conductssafety meetings
  • Reading comprehension skill to understand work orders, written instructions, technicalmanuals, safety procedures, and parts catalogs
  • Mathematical skill to perform basic calculations
  • Oral communication skills for routine and technical information exchange with coworkers,supervisors, or other personnel
  • Skill in using hand signals
  • Ability to evaluate work conditions and quality, and to make decisions regarding course ofactions (decision making)
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in amanner consistent with the essential job functions.
