Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Hydrological and Hydrogeological Specialist to provide technical expertise in hydrological and hydrogeological assessments, water resource management, flood risk analysis, and thermal discharge and intake system evaluations. The successful candidate will support environmental, infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects by assessing water-related risks, developing technical studies, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological and hydrogeological assessments to support environmental, infrastructure, industrial, and energy-related projects.
  • Perform watershed, surface water, and groundwater evaluations, including water balance studies and recharge assessments.
  • Develop and review flood risk assessments, floodplain analyses, drainage studies, and stormwater management evaluations.
  • Analyze hydrological and hydrogeological data from field investigations, monitoring programs, and modeling activities.
  • Assess the impacts of project developments on surface water and groundwater resources.
  • Evaluate thermal discharge and intake system requirements, including assessment of water availability, thermal impacts, mixing zones, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support permitting and regulatory approval processes through preparation of technical documentation and environmental studies.
  • Utilize hydrological and hydrogeological modeling tools to predict flow conditions, groundwater movement, and flood scenarios.
  • Design and oversee groundwater and surface water monitoring programs.
  • Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and presentations for clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, environmental, and project teams to develop effective water management solutions.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet applicable environmental regulations, industry standards, and quality requirements.
  • Stay current on emerging water resource management practices, regulations, and technologies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in hydrological and hydrogeological assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting flood risk assessments, flood modeling, and water resource evaluations.
  • Experience evaluating thermal discharge and intake system requirements for power generation, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of groundwater and surface water processes, watershed hydrology, and hydrogeological principles.
  • Experience with hydrological and hydrogeological modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MODFLOW, MIKE, SWMM, or equivalent tools.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and technical reporting.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and industry best practices related to water resources.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional registration or certification (e.g., Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer, Chartered Professional, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting environmental impact assessments (EIA) and regulatory submissions.
  • Familiarity with GIS applications and spatial analysis tools.
  • Experience in power generation, mining, oil and gas, infrastructure, or industrial development projects.
